Projector Predicament
1 Attachment(s)
I have had this problem ever since I bought the projectors but never tried to fix it until recently but I am having zero luck even after what seemed like hours of tinkering. As pictured below my drivers side headlight beam is centered in the middle and has a crisp cutoff. However, my passenger side one is not centered and does not produce a very crisp cut off. I tried to readjust the bulb inside the projector by flipping it upside down and just moving it around but I couldn't get it anywhere closer than where it is now. Anyone have any idea what might cause this? Its pretty annoying because it doesn't really illuminate the passenger side when driving at night. They are Gen 1 projectors BTW.
Sorry for the not so great quality pics but you should get the point. Driver side: the good side http://i1272.photobucket.com/albums/...ps7cc07a2d.jpg Pass side: bad side Attachment 18464 |
It's the crappy projector in those headlights, sorry.

First back up off the wall some. Then like andrew said it is most likely the projector and or the projector lens
|
i can send you a gen 1 projector if you wanted to try it but idk if that would help or not and probably not worth the effort taking apart unless you were going to do so anyway
|
If it really is just because the projector is crappy that is unfortunate because I don't really like any of the other aftermarket headlights for cobalts.

Crappy projectors. Get some HID projectors and retrofit your stock headlights. Also, go with 4,300k- 5,000k. Not 12,000k. Way too blue. A decent set of projectors with 4,300k- 5,000k bulbs will still give off a purple look at the edge of the cutoff that looks much better an exotic than chappy blue bulbs.

retrofit the gen 1's... wont be cheap though. hit up bass waves and see if he wants to do another set

Gen 1 lights use some really bad projectors. Super crappy. Like I mean utter garbage. Your best bet is retrofits.
You can retrofit a nice projector in the Gen 1 . I have done them and it's time consuming. I can sure you there will be better results with a retrofitted stock or Gen 1 headlight. As for coloring. I see way too much blue. What are you using? 8k or 10k? Your best light output is around 4300 to 6k. My personal al favorite is 4300k. If you want true performance. Oem d2s bulbs and proper retros is the way to go. |
I looked into retrofits but I am not trying to spend $500 on a pair of headlights since I would not be comfortable retrofitting it myself.

I spent over $600 to build my retrofit. Totally worth it.
|
i spent too much on mine but alot of it wasnt even the "retrofit"
|
I just genuinely like how the gen 1's look. In a perfect world I would retrofit the gen 1's and install ccfl or cob led halos, which I don't have the time or knowledge to do.
