Question about direct replacements

Has anyone just replaced any of their speakers with better ones , but left the stock radio and wires alone ? I was thinking of just replacing the sub in back , the rear tray speakers and the 2 door speakers. I would just leave the 2 tweeters alone . Is this an OK idea or a waste of time/$$$ ? Thanks for any input.

decentidea, but changing the sub will be shitty
unless you get something with the same exact power ratings as the stocker, itll sound like garbage

a better idea would be to amp the new speakers, and get an actual add on sub/amp

I have replaced the base speakers (not pioneer) in my LS Coupe with Alpine's and there is huge difference, kept the stock stereo and no amp...yet.

Thank You

This is the kind of info sharing that really helps people like me(that are not real
good at electronics) that love decent music at slightly louder than normal levels. So maybe a change of door and rear deck speakers first then a newamp/sub later ? I can
relate to that (and afford it too) right after I get my oil changed(another c-note I am sure)
This car is sort of like owning a Harley.... The H-D stands for Hundred dollars ! Yes , I own one so don't blast me,It is an inside joke to other owners....Again,Thanks

If you plan on amping anything its a good idea to replace the head unit also. It will make it easier with all the preouts.

IMO your best bet would be to find good replacement speakers, but not ones with Huge power rating becuase they wont sound right underpowered. Also you can swap out the sub for a better one but make sure that also has similar ratings. It shoudl make a noticeable difference in sound, wont shake the hood down when you drive by but will sound better.

The biggest problem with replacing the sub is the enclosure size.

It will be hard to make it sound better using a different sub due to the fact that most decent subs require a larger area. This is why the stock Pioneer sounds so good for some music and only decent while listening to other stuff.

As for overall volume I wish this stereo could go higher, they should have used a control for the sub.
