Question About Install....

so with my clarion max675vd going in I had one question....my harness has a ground wire and the harness from the deck has a ground wire...do i attached them or do i ground them to the same part of the car? and of course the other question would be about the ebrake wire do i ground that to the same source or to a different spot? thanks in advance...

no one can help?

well I would think that they would get connected, and not grounded. The wires coming from the deck are all one group, and get connected to the harness. The other peice that harness clips into should have a ground wire that is already grounded.

The two ground wires coming from the deck and the harness need to be grounded, doesnt matter if they are together or not, but personally im running the same head unit and i tied the two together and grounded them. Now with the parking brake lead, all you have to do is simply ground it with the harness wires and you have it. So basically all you need to do is tie all three together and put them on a chassis ground.

well they guy that said all three need ot be grounded is wrong... yes the deck need to be grounded... you can ground it your self... and that will be it or you can connect it to the harness that clips in to the stock harness peice, and i will be grounded already... the stock harness has a ground in it... and with the e-brake i'm not to sure what your asking... and yes those toys need to be picked up... before the wife get home... lol

You connect the wires together. The ground from the harness is already grounded, so you just need to connect the ground from the deck harness to it. I'm not sure about the clarion but on the pioneers I just use a t tap and tap into the e brake wire to the ground wire.

just connect the 2 together... cut off that awful connecter thing on the aftermarket HU ground side... To get the ebrake to work its going to take some trial. Strip it some and put it in a ground location (either the HU and harness ground if you havent connected them via crimp cap or other insulated connector or shove it in the actual ignition where ur key goes) If you get video then cut the wire short and connect those 2 grounds and the ebrake and ur done. If not you will need to put a switch on that wire.... get one with only 2 leads and connect one to the ebrake wire and the second to a ground.

You connect the two. Both units are grounded, but by connecting the two you ensure there's a clean ground for the signals to work off of.

a chassis ground isnt required on the cobalt. The reason they have the ground wire on the harness is so you can connect along with the ground on the HU and be done with it. A chassis ground on every car would be very annoying but since some dont have it all hus have the funky spade terminal thing
