rain sensor for sunroof?

Just curious if anyone is familiar with this. I was watching pimp my ride and they installed this sunroof with a sensor that closes ur roof if it senses rain. Not sure if it would be cost worthy but i love leaving my roof open and have had my interior rained on once. if you ya know anything bout it post up.

Never heard of it. My opinion...Just another electronic device to go wrong. How bout just closing the sunroof when it starts to rain?

Thus why I always close my roof if I'm gonna be out of the car for more than 5 mins. Keeps the interior cooler too.

I betcha they just picked up a rain sensor for sprinklers, and took that **** appart and wired it to the sunroof. Easy and cheap, i suppose the hardest part would be wiring it to trigger the sunroof, but im sure its not THAT hard to do, electronicly speaking.

Probably something you could take off of the Trailblazer SS, I know they have the rain sensing windshield wipers so im sure you could hook something up to that! Come to think of it I wonder if my brothers sunroof closes when it senses rain....

The sensor that should be doing this now can be found in the DRIVERS SEAT! When you see rain coming, PUSH THE FREEKIN BUTTON! AH HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!!!!!

Seriously a rain sensor for the sunroof is just asking for trouble.

the only "issue" i see is that you would have to have a constant power source, the stock sunroof switch turns off with all the other acc. so you would have to have a bypass to make the switch always on... also it would have to know when to stop closing the sunroof so it doesnt burn up the motor... it sounds good in theory tho...

it might be nice to have if maybe you forget to close your sunroof, or left it open not expecting rain

Not really sure how the setup was on pmr, but here is a system for automatic windshield wipers. Im sure it would take just a little tweaking to make it work with the sunroof. Only problem is you have to attach a sensor to the inside of the glass and I'm not sure how that would work with the sunroof opening and closing.

i leave it open pretty much all the time. If its a hot day and everything closed getting in the car i feel like im sittin in a pressure cooker. In regards to the "one more thing to go wrong remark" i dont care i thought getting cobalt addictions highflow cat/downpipe would be a no big deal since i still have a cat, but hello p0420. once i can get a hold of someone with hptuners that will be goodbye. so for any new problems that arrive im sure theres a fix..........unless i do a shitty wiring job and the car catches on fire. lol

Thats what happened to me today. It was beautiful out earlier, did some running around, and then came inside for a few hours. I heard it start to pour outside like someone flipped a switch. I figured I might as well garage her for the night and it wasn't until I was near my car I realized I had both windows and the sunroof open.

Our windshield wipers have rain sensor thingies too, just not the ones that turn the wipers on. They change speeds when the speed of your car changes.

I wouldn't want my wipers to come on when rain hits em, sometimes I don't use my wipers, or at least I try not to use em. I have Rain X for that. lol

True true...Or to have it so I don't have to pop that damn button out everytime I use it. My stereo makes it vibrate if it's not popped out. lol

Yeah, my bezel stays on, but I have to pop the button out once in awhile cause it rattles a lil when my bass hits. My system hits pretty hard. Hehehe
