Replacing the Stock Sub and keeping enclosure

Is there a sub replacement I can do and get better bass? Or is it not worth doing that.

Looking for a cheap option now.

Thanks,

I did a seperate amp for my sub... I ended up getting a rockford Fosgate 10" shallow mount punch and it fit the enclosure with absolutely no modifications to the enclosure (except drilling the new screws for the sub)...I ended up running the wiring through the bolt hole on the back of the enclosure (used to hold the original sub in place) and I used the sub bracket from the RF sub rather than the stock grill...Ended up with an extremely clean install and the sub sounds really great .... I think the sub cost me around $100....

I wouldn't recommend it... When we pulled out the stock amp we were surprised that it was able to handle the stock sound system itself... I went with a RF punch amp...it is the smallest amp I could find with decent specs... it actually fits in the wheel well beside the battery in the 08 (I actually put mine in the passenger cubby in the trunk)...they are about $165-175 shipped.... looks like I need to invest in a facebook page so I can put up all the pictures....

I will try to get something tonight.....

K...here is the flickr account I created...you can see the unit on page 1...there are older pictures of the car on page 2... http://www.flickr.com/photos/nakaiya21_flickr/

I just put in an eclipse avn 6610 double din and i hooked it up with the cheaper harness in my 06 cobalt. Before i had taken out the stock sub and put in a pioneer premier 10", one of the best slim subs, made absolutely no difference. but when i put that new double din in..... SOOOOOOOOOo much louder and clearer on sub and every speaker.

See above... I used a RF punch amp for the sub... you should be able to run that off of the stock HU... but I would send a pm to emperorjj1 to verify....

Now if you plan on changing our the hu, it will depend on the car you have. If you plan on changing the hu and stock speakers then let us know and we will help you out...

I plan on keeping stock HU. will I need an amp for the new sub?

can you also do an enclosure on the opposite side that looks similar to the pioneer enclosure?

If your changing out the Sub your going to want to add a Amp at least for it. I too went with the RF P3 shallow, and it fit perfectly. I have a 5 channel amp I'm using for the whole car though. Still have stock Headunit too.

As for the second question, You can, if you can make one. But it will not help as much as a second sub on the same side as the original, as they will cancel some sound out from eachother. (with them facing eachother)

I love mine...Gets toasty, but works great...I just need to get it a better signal...(actually, I need to get the 360.1 a better signal.) The stock head unit is terrible....The 8 year old sony in my Cav is a better unit sound wise.
