shift light worth it??

i'm thinking about getting this summit shift light and wanted to get people's oppinions of shift lights in general. very easy install obviously. and its adjustable so i can break the habbit of keeping my eyes on the tach till 3k and then set it to 6500 at the track.

what do you guys think?

i have a $50 and want to buy something for the car

I can see that getting really annoying after a while.

but if there is a need i say go for it. as long as its not attached to a tach the size of my head lol

I think they are a good idea. That one is cheaper than most that I have seen. I am thinking about getting one eventually. Probably a Raptor though. They look good above the boost gauge where it would easily get your attention when shifting.

IMO, you should be able to feel when the car needs to shift without having to watch the tach.

i'll wire in an on/off switch from the power source. so when the car is on it will always have a power signal, but will be on when i tell it to

and for me, there is a need for it. i have a habbit of watching the factory tach untill the roms are around 3k and then shift. and i've almost rearended many people because of it. so with this i can keep my head up

yea justa personal opinion but after havin a car or truck for so long you can kinda tell what rpm its at without lookin at the tach or speed, just go by feel. but if you want one then by all means get it. its not a bad idea to get one.

First gear goes pretty quick to just be able to "feel" when you need to shift

advice, and how i learned years ago. either turn off the tach lights, or cover the tach and just get used to driving by sound. may take some practice, but after a while you won't have to look to see when you are at 3k. I even used to practice, put the car in a random gear, and just by sound try to guess the rpms. a shift light gets annoying quick

i'm the oposite i have the problem of not glancing down at the tach and i always seem to hit the rev-limiter and forget to shift and ****. thats not a bad idea on the shift light though i'd get it. but i will probably save up to get a newer aeroforce version with the built in shift lights.

But what would be the purpose of that? The OP was talking about a shift light for track purposes not to save gas

Yea I just always think of a shift light being used at redline or just before it. It would be annoying if it was set at 3k.

It didn't take me long after I got my car to memorize what the engine sounds like a 3k.

Using Gtech pro tack with mph and wideband readout

Don't even use the dash instruments I turn the lights off
Has shift light set for what ever and easy to reset.
