speaker wire advice

Im wondering what kind of speaker wire I use for my amp and sub I have a 12inch alpine type r that needs a new speaker wire because the speaker wire is to short that I have right now. what gauge should i be using, whats the difference in gauge, besides thickness. does a 12 gauge sound better than 14?

Alright thanks, any certain brand that you would recommend? Should I just go to like the home depot( or any hardware store) and buy some wire there? or go to a car audio store? will I notice the difference in sound quality?

will you notice a difference no. car audio wire is more flexible and easier to work with but it also depends on what wire it is. In the end speaker wire is literally the smallest factor in what makes an overall difference
