SS Pioneer Sub in Base G5 (07)

Hey guys, i don't know anything about audio, and was lookin' for some help.

Is installing the ss pioneer sub on a stock base level system going to function correctly? And will it make any difference whatsoever with a stock head unit (and no amp, unless there is a stock one, or if an amp is part of the stock HU. Like i said, im lost in audio). I dont even know if the system will 'realize' that the amp is there lol let alone make it noticeable.

Can you guys help me out?
Thanks

You can't hook the sub up directly to the radio. You will need a amp to power it.
I added the pioneer sub to mine and upgraded the speaker and have it running off a aftermarket amp.

And how do you find it? Was it worth it? I can get the sub for $40... How much does a decent amp (nothing crazy) go for? Thanks

I already had the amp from a previous set-up. I paid a $100 for the amp used. The amp i'm running a rockford putting out 400 wats RMS.
I think the sub is rated like 200 rms.
I got my pioneer sub and box off ebay for $60.
It is realy worth it you can really hear the sub. I upgraded the sub in mine to a Memphis that can handle the 400 watts without blowing.
But the factory sub will still hit pretty hard and sound good on a lower power amp.

If you're gonna power the stock sub with an aftermarket amp keep in mind it's dual voice coil. You will need to power both coils or the sub will not be amused.

Just get a sub amp. Then wire the coils up in series or parallel depending on the ohm requirements of the amp.
