Started to build the box.. Teaser hehe

Well I started to build the skeleton to my fiberglass sub box today for my two 12" Alpine Type R's.. Here it is..

I'm gonna be molding the amp (Hifonics BXi2006) in the middle too. Will be makin the platform for that tomorrow, aswell as starting the fiberglassin and all the dirty stuff hehe..

I'll post more pics as the progress moves ahead. Oh and its gonna be a sealed box.

Well just finished adding the amp rack, layin the cotton sheet and coating it with a coat of resin. Just waitin for it to dry now.. So i'll post some more pics

First pic here is just rest the skeleton in the trunk seein how its gonna fit..

Next is the skeleton with the amp rack in the middle.. Once I start fiberglassing I'm going to be putting insert a tube through the rack to hide all the wires..

Next the layer of cotton..

And then with the resin added.. It still doesn't look like much, but its deffanately taking shape. Once I start applying the fiberglass mat I'll be able to mold it more. Can't wait till it's finished..

HAHAHA...fiberglass. you have no idea what you are on for...SCRATCH ,,,itch... SCRATCH. good luck. my biggest problem was the sanding. i have learned to make as few corners as possible. helps with sanding. take your time man. dont get in a hurry. you can mess up real quick and it takes hours sometimes days to fix it on big projects.

I thought the same thing, but it looks like it could be the angle of the picture or how the box is sitting.

Thanks alot buddy, and ya I know about the amp rack.. I even measured it and everything.. had it perfectly in the center.. but once I put the top of the rack on.. I had to pull the boards and that's what happened. But I'm not really concerned yet, should be able to correct it with the fiberglass. But good eye lol was wondering if someone would notice that.

thanks again all..

Now I need some opinions guys.. When this is all done bondo'd and glazed.. Should I..

a) Paint it the same color as my car (Sunburst Orange)
b) Paint it gloss black with speckles of Sunburst Orange
c) Paint it just gloss black

Some input from anyone?! or other ideas.. Thanks

Updates...

Well I'm done laying all the fiberglass and today I sanded it all down and smoothed out all of the edges and layed down two coats of bondo.. Tomorrow I will be sanding that down and laying one more coat of bondo.

Heres some pics of the box with the subs in before I bondo'd it.

Next time use spandex instead of cotton. The spandex stretches and forms to the shape you want easier.
