sub/amp question..
sub/amp question..
hi im thinkin of getting a pair of kicker subs (10") with a vented box..now my question is..these subs have 600 peak watts and 300 RMS.im guessin its for both so what kind of amp should i go for? i have no idea about this audio stuff..im going to get an aftermarket HU also..and whats dual voice coil? these dont have it..and my last question is, i wont be able to hook up the factory sub and these 2 to the amp im guessing right?
1 more question guys...i have a KENWOOD EXCELON KDC-X979 receiver from my previous car..how can i find out if it will fit or not? thanks alot guys.

You can get a kit for the Kenwood at BestBuy.You can get a bunch of different amps but dont go to mutch above the rms cuz the subs will pop 4 sure. You can y connect the factory sub.If my computer wasent jacked up I would post pic's of mine.
i just got off the phone with darryls car audio...the wiring harness for my car is 80 bucks?? wtf...i guess the radio goes thru the computer or somethin like that...did anyone hear about that? what should i do cuz i dont want to pay $150 to get a radio installed....
Well for the two subs you'll in and around a 600 rms amp for best performance and compatbililty i'd suggest a Kicker amp however if you want sounds guality i would lean towards something from JL Audio or Alpine new series of maps they are magnificant. Also ya those adapters are a pain and they cost anywhere from 50-150 depending on model and make of youe vehicle.
Well now. First off, for any install questions and/or products. Go to www.crutchfield.com and go to "What fits my car". Anyways you are gonna want an amp that puts roughly 300 Watts RMS to each sub. RMS means the constant power an amp puts out all the time. Not peak power. look for an amp that puts out at least 300watts x 2 channels @ 4 ohms. Or an amp that puts out 600 watts RMS BRIDGED. but make sure if you go that route that the amp is 2 ohm stereo stable. When you bridge two 4 ohm subs the amp will see a 2 o0hm load. I hope i didnt confuse you at all. if I can clarify anything i said just ask me.
venom, where in NY are you man? if your close to syracuse if you buy all the stuff i will install it all for you, i installed a complete system in my SS, i do installs on the side, good price too... about half of what you will pay at any stereo shop... let me know
also, your adapter should not be that much, my wiring harness was no more than like 25-30 bucks, and another 20 for the kit to change from 2din to 1 din........ let me know and i can help you out! whatever you do dont buy anything from crutchfield, great stuff, but highly overpriced.......
