For those of you that are Alpine fans....

I just went to best buy yesterday and I was originally looking at the Alpine Type R but I saw the Type E's and imo, the E's blow the type R away.
I am probably getting two 10"s because they blow one 12 type R away.

ummmmmm...NO, The type E is junk man, trust me, I am an alpine fan and had both and eard both subs. I was a demo for a local alpine rep. The type R blows the type E out of the water. I had a 15" Type R with 2 mrd 1000 watt (rms) amps. I could hit 147's and 148's all day long.....or until it would stall my car..lol

It sounds like the sub you heard was under powered. Get some more Powa on that thing!!! Seriously though, two 10's should move more air than one 12. Get the E's if you want, they're the low end entry level subs. They aren't bad, but they're no Type R's.

The Type E does hit pretty hard, its a great sub, but the Type R is deff better if your powering it right

If you demo'd both subs with the same amp. The Type E's would be louder. Type R's need a lot of power before they "wake-up". When powered properly, a Type R should have a lot more excursion (travel) than a Type E of the same size. The amount of excursion x the cone area will determine how much air it can move, provided it is powered properly.

What??You think I'm making that **** up.Absolutely not man, I had the system for 2 years and I would have it tested before every comp, and I would hit atleast 146.9 and 147.5. My buddies could vouch for that. I was being sarcastic about hitting that all day long. After 4 or 5 trys, it would go down to 146.5-146.8, But thats not bad. BTW I also had 2 2.5 farad caps, 1 for each amp!!

I like my Type X 10 it makes a lot of noise. I decided to take it out of my Cobalt and I put the Type X 10 in with my Solobaric L7 15 in my Blazer, the roof of the Blazer flexes like 3 inches now.... way to loud for my liking but all my friends love it.

sounds alright to me but then again its not exactly a SQ system. Its more or less I have all this stuff laying around, may as well do something with it. Besides if anything the blazer makes more noise than the speakers.....

i have 2 type r's with a jl 500/1, im either going to get another 500/1 or run them both with a 1000/1, type e is ok, but def. not a better sounding sub then the r's, the r needs a powerful amp for them to sound good, more than likely the e's were in a ported box, and the r was in a sealed...... the box makes a huge difference as well
