trunk keyhole reverse camera UPDATED!! 12/24 HOW TO WITH PICS (no 56k)

anyone do it? have measurements on the keyhole diameter, found a wide angle night vision camera that think might work? suggestions?

UPDATED------UPDATE-----UPDATE-----UPDATE-----UPDATE------UPDATE
--------------------------------CAMERA INSTALLED------------------------------------------------
I ordered the camera from ebay similar to the one that i posted it is 23mm and fits very snug.
ROUND KEYHOLE NIGHT VISION CAMERA
-NTSC CABALBLE
-23MM
-VIDEO EXTENSION CORD TO REACH YOUR RADIO
-POWER AND GROUND WIRE EXTENSION
FIRST YOU HAVE TO REMOVE THE CARPETING? INSIDE THE TRUNK TO EXPOSE THE LOCKING MECHANISM THERE ARE A FEW PLASTIC GROMMETS BE SURE NOT TO LOSE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

- AFTER THAT YOU ARE GOING TO REMOVE THE LOCK (A VERY SIMPLE PROCESS) RIGHT INSIDE OF THE EMERGENCY RELEASE UP AGAINST THE TRUNK THERE IS A SILVER CLIP IT SLIDES TO THE LEFT AND YOUR LOCK POPS OUT. REMOVE THE RUBBER RING THAT IS AROUND THE LOCK YOU WILL NEED TO REUSE THIS TO KEEP WATER OUT OF YOUR TRUNK WITH YOUR NEW CAMERA. THERE ARE 2 RINGS THAT YOU CAN ANGLE YOUR CAMERA WITH (I CHOSE TO FLUSH MOUNT MINE, DO AS YOU PLEASE) YOU ARE NOW GOING TO PUT THE RUBBER RING ON THE CAMERA.
- YOUR CAMERA THREADING WILL SCREW DOWN INTO THE TRUNKS NEW HOLE, ONCE YOU GET TO THE SMOOTH PORTION OF THE CAMERA YOU WILL HAVE TO PUSH THE CAMERA THE REST OF THE WAY THROUGH VERY CAREFULLY. (FINGERS ON THE OUTSIDE OF THE CAMERA NOT IN THE CENTER). THE TOP OF THE CAMERA HAS A LIGHT SENSOR AND LOOKS DIFFERENT FROM THE OTHER NIGHT VISION LEDS PUT THIS AT THE TOP.
- PLACE THE ANGLE RINGS THAT YOU DID NOT USE ON THE BACK OF THE CAMERA AND YOU WILL HAVE 2 SCREW DOWN RINGS ONE TO FIT THE CAMERA SNUG THE OTHER TO LOCK THE FIRST ONE IN PLACE. FIT SNUG DO NOT OVER TIGHTEN.
- YOUR CAMERA NEW WIRING WILL NOW BE HANGING OUT NEXT TO YOUR EMERGENCY RELEASE ZIP TIE IT TO THE OTHER WIRES THAT RUN DOWN THE LEFT SIDE OF THE TRUNK LID. THIS IS WHERE YOU WILL CONNECT YOUR REVERSE CAMERA INPUT (PROVIDED YOU HAVE A SCREEN AND BACK UP CAM FEATURE).

- RUN YOUR REVERSE WIRE UP TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR (I DID MINE UNDER THE CENTER CONSUL) AND CONNECT TO YOUR REVERSE CAM INPUT.
-THE FUN PART-
- YOU HAVE TO EXTEND THE WIRES THAT COME WITH THE KIT AND YOU HAVE 2 OPTIONS, RUN THEM TO THE FRONT OF THE CAR AND CONNECT THE RED (POWER) SO THAT YOU CAN HAVE THE CAMERA ON ALL THE TIME AND THE WAY MY Z2 IS SET UP YOU CAN USE IT TO SEE WHILE DRIVING FORWARD. AND THE BLACK WIRE (GROUND) YOU PUT TO A GROUND OR YOU CAN TAP INTO YOUR REVERSE LIGHT FOR POWER AND GROUND SO YOU CAMERA HAS POWER WHEN YOUR REVERSE LIGHTS COME ON AND YOUR NIGHTVISION LEDS WILL NOT BE ON ALL THE TIME WHEN ITS DARK. SOLDER, TAPE OFF, AND TEST DONT WANT TO HAVE TO DO IT OVER AFTER YOUR ALL PUT BACK TOGETHER.
- NOW PUT THE TRUNK CARPETING BACK ON AND PUSH THE GROMMETS BACK IN PLACE.
- AND YOUR FINISHED

not a bad idea... if you do-it make a "How-to" write up on it... I'm pritty sure someone else would do it, and that could help them out...

Thats what I will be doing when I get the money together...And it seems like the Key whole lock is on a Wire so you can remove it without causing problems with the mechanism.

the lock mechanism is very easy to remove. All you have to do is remove the plastic cap that has the wire connected to it and there is a little metal clip that goes around it that slides out and then the lock will pull out towards the outside of the car.

I would like to add if you were to do it, I would create a backup system to opening the trunk incase the solenoid goes bad. I used to be in "mini trucks" with shaved door handles and whatnot, having no way to get into the truck without the remote to pop open the door. Perhaps leaving a way to lower the rear seats. Just something to keep in mind. I know once when i was locked outta my truck, i had to try and jimmy the lock for a good hour to get in.
