Trunk Rattle

How do I get my trunk to stop rattling from my subs on the outside so much? I've never heard a car rattle this much. Is it just as simple as dynamatting the whole thing?

You could dynomat it, but you can also "unscrew" the rubber stoppers on the trunk lid a lil to extended them out, this will cause a tighter seal. I dunno if our cars have ones that do that, my mod shop recommends that to the civic owners to stop rattling. BRB, gonna check my trunk.

**Update** Nope, not able to do that lil trick, we have bar shapped rubber stoppers. Looks like dynomat will be the best bet w/o trying to do a bad DIY, unless you're adventurous.

Whats subs and amp are you running?

I'd sounbd proof the whole trunk.. Dont use dynamat, you can find superior products for cheaper.

im running 2 audiobahn q-flame 12's, powered by a 2400 watt rockford fosgate amp.. im seriously suprised at how much this car moves... the headliner alone is making at least 2 inches of travel when those things are going full blast

I'm sure most cars would have that problem with that much power.. But definitly sound proof the trunk as a way to start and then move on from there.

I'm thinking about puttin 1 L7 in my trunk when I do my system. If the rattle is that bad maybe I'll put a L5 in there.

My trunk rattles badly. I suppose, in retrospect, I should have pointed the subs forward in this car, instead of up!!

I haven't been able to figure out exactly whats rattling, but it sounds like the whole trunk

i dont really hear the rattling inside the car so much, the bass overpowers it.. i just hate hearing the car next to me rattle like its gonna fall apart, and surely i wouldnt want my own car doing the same thing

Ok i've dynamatted a few cars now, and this seems to be one of the best ways to do the trunk lid, since the trunk lid has the cross supports on it, and little crevases that you cannnot get dynamatt in, all you simply have to do, is get a can of the sound deadener spray spray that into the crevases and cracks you cannot apply dynamatt to, and then put a layer or two of dynamatt on. Remember when you are putting on dynamatt to have a hair dryer and to try to mold it to the contours as much as possible. Well hope this helps. Another rattle that i know you are probally getting is the third brake light in the rear window, watch it when you play bass, sometimes it slaps the rear window, i know mine did, until i put a thin strip of black felt around it, it is hardly noticeable and kills that rattle. I have a RE SX 15" in my cavalier with 1500 going to it, it's very nice hope this helps out a bit.

I was goin to use that sound deadener stuff but i didn't kno if it was good or not.. so i didn't buy it. because my trunk rattles alot. I got 2 kicker comp vr's with a kenwood 1000 watt amp and a 1 farad capacitor( that don't work).
