Trying to pick a headunit..

Okay, so I got a 2006 cobalt SS. I wanna get a dvd player, double din. Fancy fancy. I'll snag the harness and antenna adapter, but I'm having trouble deciding on what head unit to buy. I'm looking at the Pioneer AVH-P3200DVD but I don't like how it doesn't play mp4.. gotta convert to divx or something lame. What do you all have? Any suggestions? Cheaper is better, absolute top price limit is 700 but I wanna be much below this. All I want is music videos and a cool interface for my music while I'm driving.

Thanks. A coworker of mine suggested sonics so that's prolly what I'll do. I wouldn't buy a used system, I'd rather pay a bit more for a warrantied piece.

Just songs DLed off youtube for now. Don't hate! I want visuals when I rock out.

And yes I do, but I hate iTunes. I'd rather pop in an SD card with all my music on it.

EDIT: Was thinking: http://www.sonicelectronix.com/item_...H-P3200BT.html but it doesn't seem to support music video-style formats. Just straight DVDs for video.

Alpine head unit with a ktp-445 power pack. plug and play amplifier to all 4 speakers with 45 watts RMS. It is the best setup you can buy.

For money reasons I wanna keep the stock pioneer speakers/sub (they're very good for a stock system). I wanna buy a pioneer headunit to keep it all the same brand (cleaner looking, to me). I shouldn't need to buy an amp right? I think I got this.. haha

i honestly don't know but i think the newest 3200dvd/bt does support vids off the usb in avi(dvix) but im not sure. the reason i was asking about why mp4 is because thats what apple uses and you could do the videos with an ipod (but ud want a big one)

DivX is AVI?

Then I'm good, I can convert my files to avi easy. Problem solved!

Now my question is, do I need the 4v pinouts or can I get away with the 2v pinouts? Also the more expensive unit says it can power the woofer itself.. is this necessary?

if your leaving the stock setup and dont plan on adding a sub or anything down the road then it wouldn't matter if it had any preouts at all. If that might be something your looking at doing then the 4v is probably worth the money. disregard the "power the woofer itself" u wouldn't be able to use that

Thank you, I'm still learning so your information has been a huge help. +Rep etc.

I ended up dropping in a bit more money for Pioneer AVH-P3300BT.
Pioneer AVH-P3300BT (avhp3300bt) 5.8" In-Dash Double DIN

I like the 4v pinouts for eventual upgrading, that helped seal the deal for me. If I'm dropping over 500 bucks into everything I may as well do it right.

I'm gonna document my install process and let you guys know how it goes! Mostly since I used scosche (sp?) parts instead of the css.net recommended metra. Sonics says they work and if not I can always return..

if you were comparing the 2300dvd and the 3300bt the bluetooth alone is well worth the 100. not including the preouts and the dual zone video if you ever add more screens
