What amp to use?

Hello! I'm considering buying a 4-channel amp. I have a AVH-P4300DVD Pioneer Headunit with 6 3/4" component TS-D1720 C front speakers and 6x9" TS-D6902R rear speakers. I was looking at two amps from Pioneer:

1. GM-D8604 - NEW! - Class FD 4-Channel Bridgeable Amplifier | Pioneer Electronics USA
100W RMS per channel at 4 ohms

2. GM-6500F - 4-Channel Bridgeable Amplifier with 760 Watts Max. Power | Pioneer Electronics USA
60W RMS per channel at 4 ohms

The first one is a full range D class amplifier and the other is a AB class... What does that mean? Is one better than the other? Thank you!

My speakers if someone needs to see the specs...
TS-D1720C - 6¾" Component Speaker Package | Pioneer Electronics USA
TS-D6902R - 6" x 9" 2-Way Speaker | Pioneer Electronics USA

I just got the class D amp from them (the one you have listed) about 2 weeks ago. I have to say, I love the clarity of sound that this amp produces with my setup (Eclipse 3 way components) vs my old amp. I had an issue with noise coming from my capacitor for my sub though, so for now it's disconnected til I can figure out why. Overall though, either choice should be good for your application, just make sure you're running correct power to your speakers

Ok! Dumb question: how do I know I'm running correct power? (First time I'm getting an amp!)

Thanks!, but my HU has 4V output and in the amp owner's manual, it's written that there's an "H" on the gain knob to set it directly at 4V... Just want to be sure that it would not give too much power to my speakers!

Class D is digital and therefor more power efficient because they alter power based on usage, AB class amplifiers will take more power to run but as they are not digital like the class Ds they do
Not require a digital audio converter resulting
In better sound.

bingo

The difference between ab and D is basiclly AB is less efficient and higher sound quality. D is more efficient. SQ however is somewhat subjunctive and depends on the amp and actual tech used. Neither one of those amps is going to be amazing thou

What he meant by the running the correct power is matching the amp RMS to speaker RMS. the 6500f is a better match power wise but id trust the class D to be a better amp

So if you had the choice between the two, you would buy the class D amplifier?

Yes but I hate to sound snobby but I would never buy anything from Pioneer in the first place but if you are happy who cares what my opinion is.

I believe Emp would agree from our other discussions.

Well no i wouldnt say never buy anything pioneer. Their HU's are good or can be good depending on the model. But amps are pretty much a no go. The only reason to get one would be if ur super **** and everything must match.... at the shop we had a customer buy our mid higher end subs and he wanted to use his top of the line pioneer amps. We did and it worked out but the weakest link was definitively the amps. Had he gone with more top of the line **** it wouldn't have been good at all. speakers are about the same. decent at best.

If it was what would i buy then yes other than the HU i wouldnt buy anything else pioneer

Close enough, I wouldn't spend the money but if one of their new touchscreen double dins fell into my lap I would run it.
