What to do W/ pioneer flip dvd?

My friend gave me ( for free) his old AVH-P5700DVD Pioneer flip dvd player from his old car that he traded in, its kinda damaged, the flip screen sometimes comes out and sometimes doesnt and the lcd seems to be damaged as well.
What should I do?
I called Pioneer and the warranty is expired
should I try to get it repaired? who knows how much it will cost!
a local shop told me that i could trade it in + $350 for a new one, ( I dunno what kind)
sell a damaged item on ebay?

I really want it but I cant spend too much on it, but since it was free im kinda in a win win deal, right?

Pioneer wants somewhere between $150-$300 to fix a DVD player for reference.

I'd trade it in and pay the extra 350 if you can do that.

I would call pioneer and see if they have a local shop that is authorised to fix these units. Alot of companies have repairshops all around so that you don't always have to send them into them. If they do take it to the repair shop and have them give you a price on fixing it. To be honest alot of times refurbished items are stronger than out of the box items. If they do it right and take the time they check everything so you get basically a hand made product rather than machine made who can't tell if it has soldered in a weak joint or not.
