What sub to use
What sub to use
Alright guys I need you opinion on a sub to install in my stock enclosure.I have narrowed it down to the Pioneer 10 in shallow mount TS-SW2501 in 2 or 4 ohm and the Rockford Fosgate 10 in shallow mount P3 in 2 o4 ohm....I am really just concerned about it fitting into the enclosure with out any major mods...I will be running a Rockford Fosgate Power 501BD mono amp that puts out 300X1 @ 4 ohms or 500x1 @ 2 ohms rms...I just wanna make sure that i am making an improvment and will notice a difference, maybe even have a good enough hit to sound good from outside the vehicle. Or maybe you guys have any other recommendations on subs i would greatly appreciate them. the amp though is for sure because i already have it in my girls car with a Alpine Type R that she cany stand.Thank you guys for any help, ideas or comments.
no matter what sub you put in there that amp will blow it to pieces. i would get the p3 shallow mount. but before you do look if q forms or another company make a better custom fit enclosure so you can get a better sub
the P3 will fit in the stock enclosure a couple of members on here have the P3 in the stock pioneer enclosure...i would get the dual 2 ohm version of the P3 and wire it in series which will put a 4ohm load on the amp which will give the sub 300watts rms

Question: Why does it have to fit in the stock enclosure?
You're giving up a great amount of variety and quality that you can get out of your audio system.
I was gonna go with the R.F. P3 Slim myself because my initial thoughts were: I dont want to take up too much room or have it weigh me down... But it's designed for trucks that have little room in the back for a sub.. therefore it lacks quality and potential. We have a car... Take advantage of that.. If you get a normal sub with a normal box it will sound MUCH better. Regardless of which you choose.
It doesnt have to be too big or take up too much space. I have a 10" Kenwood Excelon Carbon Glass-Fiber sub with a normal sized ported box. That thing puts out 1600watts and the ported box makes it perform better than most 12" subs. If you want an upgrade in your audio from the stock Pioneer Premium Sound System.... UPGRADE.. Don't just half ass it. That's my opinion

Go with a Elemental Designs 12 in a ported box.
i'm fighting myself not to purchase it.
Which reminds me! the Pioneer 12 that's listed in my signature.... yea....my amp didn't blow it's voice coil(old school pioneer can take some power lol), but the cone split from one edge all the way to the center of the cone. lol I knew this day was comin', i mean this is what happens when you throw 2.5x the power a sub is rated for at it. lol I may just sell out and go for a Alpine Type R 12 inch in my ported box.

Im going ahead with the p3 shallow mount dual 2 ohm. i found a place that will give to me for $130...I will probly just do it at work and i will update you guys as soon as its in.The sub should be ready to pick up by mid next week.like i said befor thank you guys for your help, greatly appreciated.
hating hell ya. That system we did with them sounded like garbage. the subs were quiet and all you could hear was noise. honestly reminds me of audiobahn soundquality wise except audiobahns were cheap and could get decently loud if you tried. ED **** no. The door speakers sounded horrible. like they were pieced together to be as cheap and as fucked up as possible... except they are not. Lastly its a well known fact the customer service there sucks. The edead i got for free i threw away (sorta) because i didn't want this one single piece to fall off after spending as much as i have on second skin
If you buy ed after hearing all this you might as well take your car to JPB for a RWD conversion
