will an 09 Factory Head Unit work in my 07?

If I were to install an 09 HU with front panel USB port into my 07 would it work? The radios look identical except for the the USB port.

Yeah, I remember seeing something about it but I can't find the thread. I just want to make sure a reprogram isn't needed to make it work after install.

pretty sure u need to go to the dealer. the radio's are locked to a VIN unless changed by the techII

The radios will work fine, but they have to be unlocked.

Does unlocking include used (takeout) radios as opposed to new GM parts radios?

i dont think they care as long as its already installed. when i had one done in an 06 to 06 the service guy said will do as long as its already in there before we get started

When I did mine, I had the radio installed in the dash but left the trim and crap off just in case when I went to the dealer. They initially told me that they didn't even know if it was possible to do since the 2009s might have different software that isn't compatible with a 2007's computer system, but they said they can try anyway as long as I pay whether it works or not. Little while later they come get me and say it worked fine and my 07 now has a fully functioning USB port radio. I haven't touched a CD since.

Awesome! How much did they charge you at the dealership for the reprogram, if you don't mind me asking?

I heard it was $20-$50 but I'm not sure... I'm still trying to find an 09 USB head unit for my 07... where can i find one?
