Wining through Speakers from Stereo System?

I have 2-12inch subs with a sub amp and 4 channel amp and I am getting a bad wine through my subs. It sounds like it's not grounded very well but it's grounded to the battery. Does anyone else have the problem of the wining sound? And what did you do to help quiet the sound? Thanks for the help.

No, I swapped out amps one right after the other and the first amp didn't have any whining. Could it be because the first amp wasn't as powerful? My brother has the same 4 channel amp and has the same whining sound. He has his grounded on the battery also.

How far away are your RCA cables (and any speaker cables for that matter) from your power wires? Sometimes being too close can cause that problem (bad wire shielding)

There are no problems with this. I had a different amp hooked up to it and it was fine.

[QUOTE=EmperorJJ1;2220308]what head unit do u have?[/QUOT

I just got a new jvc tv also and both of the tv's i've had done the same whining sound. I'm thinking it could be the amp. Is this a possibility? Do some amps need to be grounded differently?

nope but pioneer HUs have a special problem thats an easy fix

So at this point the only things u can do is swap rcas or add a ground loop isolator. It could very well be an amp problem or when the old amp was removed the rcas broke.

What's crazy is that my brother has the same amp in his cobalt and he has the whining sound also. The whine does increase when I hit the gas also.

Here's a good idea....Ground the amp to something else......perhaps the body of the car, like you're supposed to.

Who in their right mind told you it was a good idea to ground the amp to the battery in the first place? The battery is for power only.

Anyone with even a lil common electronic knowledge would tell you NOT to ground the amp to the battery.

They probably even tell you that in the instruction manual for the amp, if you bothered to read it. Imagine: A manufacturer actually telling you how to install their product properly - THAT'S ****** AMAZING!

If the whining increases along with your rpm's then your amp is picking up feedback from your altenator. ...ask one of the other guys what you need to do to get rid of the whine, I haven't had that problem on my balt, so I forgot what you'll need to do.

i believe what he is looking for is a capacitor, it would get rid of the alternator feedback...

Well i had a guy look at it and he said the rca's are cheap ones. So i'm gonna look in to getting better ones and trying to ground it to the car and see if that helps.

Im not gonna quote the rest of it but you should NOT ground to your bat. always to the body!
Your problems Are probably some of the following (speakers wires/ Rcas/ Power+ground wires/Fuses /Caps)Also Placement of Wires is essential for quality sound(Rcas + Speaker wires as far away as possible from power + grounds )And match your speakers with your amps outputs and dont think for a second a 500watt Mtx is rated the same as A 500 watt Alpine
The car stereo game is all about matching things properly I have heard Pyramid systems that sound amazing because eveything was matched properly and ive heard alpine systems that sound like **** cause they are not power matched and wired properly

The system I took out of my last car before I bought my cobalt and never failed me once in 5 years And I mean not once consisted of
Alpine cd/mp3 head unit
Kicker 3.5 mid 1 inch tweet
Jvc 6x9
2 10 inch alpine type rs
2 v12 alpine amps(no deck power was used for speakers all power from amps)
Monster cables
stinger fuses and stuff

I have never once had a problem with this equipment crisp clear and loud as hell but everything is matched according to the output of the amps and handling capabilities of the amps.Like i said in 5 years Lookin at some new toys for the new car thinkin a pioneer 6.5 and alpine 6.5 for the front cause I cant use my 3.5 components no more but im stuck on what to do about a sub box as my alpine box comes no where close to fitting in the trunk

This IMO is more useless than the post you quoted which was only trying to help in a rude way but the man spoke the truth and only the truth
