Are there any wires that become active when it gets darker outside? I'm wiring up a scanner and instead of having to fiddle around with mounting a switch, I wanted to know if there are any wires that turn on when it gets dark, with the car running.

ok, ... i dont think you are going to have any idea what im talking about and its most likley a bad idea to even tell you this,.. but your best bet is going to be to tie into the automatic headlamp switch somehow. and be sure to tell us how that goes..!

All I have to do is splice open a wire, solder on the scanner, and then put some shrink-wrap on it.

jaconmprater: I was more or less looking for a wiring diagram, try find the wires location the closest to the inside of the car so I don't have to go about ripping the car apart to feed a wire from the engine to my center console.

Oh, and by the way, I'm in Canada, so I do believe they have to be on at all times.
