personally..i would put a new deck in..once u add a aftermarket deck to your stock speakers ur going to get better sound, then add the XM(dedicated to the deck or plug n play with a hardwire aux to it.) how much r u lookin to spend

I'd wait till you got the deck. Instead of having to set your deck to Aux and then tune in with the XM unit. That way you can just get the xm box and plug it into the deck and run everything through there. That'll also save you some $ I think

I have an aft/mkt XM reciever in my Cobalt. My radio picks up signal from XM reciever via an unused radio station. I don't have any reception or sound issues. My antenna for the XM is ran thru car and mounted to the front edge of the trunk lid (magnetic mount).

I tried mounting the antenna, in the trunk (top of lid), next to factory antenna, and a few other places.......but the reception was not as good. The signal would fade in and out depending were I was at. With the antenna mounted to the outside of trunk lid, I have had no reception problems at all. As far as 5 finger shopping..... Smith and Wesson has my back!

well the only reason i ask is that i am not ready to get rid of my factory deck i want to keep it and my boyfirends parents both got the xm and just wired it to the cigertte lighter and then the antenna outside so do you have to wire it outside or can you keep the antenna inside the car or what so confused on this ....

hey, i know you're confused and so was I before I bought the xm radio. Since I'm at work, I obviously can't post up any pics. But once I get home, i'll explain everything I did and am planning to do with my XM Radio and the way I set it up, which radio I bought and why and how I passed the wires. Also, my opinion about everything with tons of pics.

Thats where I mounted mine, I didnt want the antenna on the top of the car. So its on the trunk hidden behing the spoiler.

The antenna has to be outside of the car in order to receive the full signal

well its magnetic, so it will stay..u just will have some slack when the trunk opens...zip tie it to a spot in the car in the trunk where it will hold when the trunk is up. yet put it there and remove some of the weather strippin..and feed it uner there and put it back...it shud hold it then zip tie it to something...then run it up to the front of the car where te unit will be. fold the seats down run it down the seats under the plastic for the door and such...put some slck and tie that up and put it by the hood lever. and run it to where ever u have the unit..thats really the easiet way...lol alot of stuff rite there

I'm sure you can get an extention kit if you do come short, but you should have enough

no its fine...u can take them in and out of the car...if u want the better sound get the XM FM Direct kit which hardwires it and plugs it up to the antenna lines in the car..when u get this part u need a antenna adapter and rev. antenna adapter.
