18" SS/SC wheels and tires

I finally put the 18" SS/SC wheels on my cobalt. The tires are Pirelli PZero Nero M+S 215/45/18. I was all worried about the ride being too harsh with the 18s compared to the stock 17s but as it turns out its not a big difference. The big things I noticed are that the braking is much better and the handling is sharper.

I don't see how this is true... bigger wheels will only worsen your stopping distance/time... make the ride rougher (smaller sidewalls on the tires)... and make your turning distance horrible.

Sadly... that's my one gripe about this car... my mom's Jeep Liberty turns on a dime compared to my SS/SC.

Yes the ride is firmer but its not as bad as I thought it would be. As for not handling or braking as good, I noticed a major improvement in these areas, whether it was from the tires being better quality or whatever I don't know. Maybe if you actually tested it it would take longer to brake because the wheels are heavier but I defintely notice more sure footed and confident braking and handling. I think that if you lower the profile of the tires it should improve these things, not make them worse.

Jeeps do that. I drive them everyday at work and my mom has a Liberty too. My gripe about that thing is it gets like 15mpg. **** that.

However, he is right. It was broken down before, and I think that 16's are actually the best overall size because they have a reasonable width, and not too much roatation from the size.

They look nice though. I'm personally a fan of my stock 2.4 rims though, but I hate that you gotta polish them every time you wash it or they lose their shine and just look normally silver.

But looks good!

Hey sneaky I'm actually from down in Macomb County too, I was born in Warren, I used to live in Sterling Heights right by lakeside.

And as for the wheels, thanks it looked great and at first I thought the ride and all that was better but after a week driving with them to work I realized the ride was pretty damn stiff and I couldn't take it. I switched back to the 17s. I sold the 18s with the tires and get most of my money back though so It worked out pretty good.

I know, it was a whole lotta swapping. By the time I was done dicking around I just about threw out my back! I had fun just trying them out though, I brought them right in the living room by my chair to ogle.
Hey John hows it going buddy!
