Unsafe? 20-30mm to wide? What makes you come to these assumptions? There is nothing unsafe about anything. 245's is actually conservative. So what are you talking about?

I have been amazed of some of the comments made on here. Most of the people here are new to the car scene and or dont have first hand experience in modifying. Most should join other car forums and read more general mechanical related stuff.

it's pretty simple, a car's suspension only has so much play, if you go too wide, or two low of an aspect ratio, the wheel will not maintain a proper contact patch.

general rule, if the car's ride quality suffers, you went too far. IMO, hearing that it feels weird under 20mph, but not at speeds means that it's too wide or too low of a tire.

 

Your wrong. if that was the case my car, my gto my old honda would do the same thing. Te supras i work on and all the other cars i have driven and put wide tires on ALL have wide ass tires. NON have this issue. Also havent you seen that almost every dropped cobalt has this problem even with stock wheels and tires? And when i got her car aligned the problem almost completely went away? Do your homework first. I know a thing or 2 about this stuff. And its not because of the tires.

no one ever said that the alignment was off.

however, if the car doesn't ride smoothly with brand new tires on it, something is wrong, that's a simple basic concept.

mine is lowered, and it rides as smooth as, if not smoother, than it did stock.

as far as a supra, it's a different car, can't compare the two.

it's also possible that the offset is just wrong for the car and it's causing the suspension to fight itself.

Needs more mods to win a car of the month IMO. Wheels, springs, a front lip and some LED's just don't cut it in my book. Not be rude, just being honest!

Just to prove im not being an ass to JUST you, check my vBGarage, and i'll tell you I don't even think MY car is worth the prestigous COTM title, and I have the same car, plus im flossing a full exhaust (header, downpipe, cat-back), AEM CAI, Ingalls ETD, Powerslots + Hawk pads all around, TWM shifter, ARK shorty antenna, DC Sports strut bar, 19"s.............but then again, you can just say "Well if I win and that makes you mad, then you should've entered your car and stop whining".....and that would be true, lol.

I guess I just keep pushing my entry back b/c I always have a few more things I wanna do before I enter. I'll def be entering come spring though.

But hey, if you can pull a win off with just wheels, springs a front lip and some LEDS, then hats off to ya!

Dude **** your car. I have more "mods" on one side of my engine then you do in your whole car. You have how many mods and its slow and its looks almost stock.

Good for you. My car is a daily driver that I commute with, so I don't need 620whp to get me through miles and miles of traffic. I mod it b/c I enjoy it as a hobby, not to impress people and be the fastest car down the 1320. Sure, I don't mind being a bit faster than stock, but its just for fun for me.

Oh thats cute calling my car slow when your girlfriend has the same car, with not one single performance mod........and its a freakin slushbox auto at that. Weak. "You have how man mods and its slow"........umm........yeah buddy, b/c you live in FL.......I live in VA........and you've never seen my car race........way to assume. Owell, even if its slow, its faster than your girls car.

As for looking almost stock, damn right, thats how I wanted it to look. I like it simple and smooth. I dont want a body kit, hood, or any of that, but ill damn sure give respect to those like b_faulk who have those kinda things, as they aren't cheap. And your girls car looks just as stock. We both have wheels, both have springs........and shes got the SS/SC front lip. Big deal, b/c that makes it look soooooooooo much "less stock" than me.

Like I said Mscobaltss, I respected you until your big macho turbo head boyfriend came on here calling peoples car "rice", when he dosen't even own a Cobalt or belong on this forum in general. Sure, its open to anyone, but is it neccesary for an IS300 driver to come on a forum and bring more drama than there already is. At the end of the day, I still love my car and nothings gonna change that.

I didnt' enter my car b/c its not where I want it yet. Unlike you, I want more of a finished product when I go to enter. But hell, I might never get it where I want it and never enter. Dosen't really bother me either way. I just wanna enter to see how i'll do.

By the way, even after all the bitterness and drama between us (among others), and even with your boyfriend basically calling my car a "slow" "stock looking" piece of crap (lol) i'll still man up and say I owe you an apologie. I never meant for things to get this out of hand, but like I said from the begining, it was NEVER about you or your car. I tried saying that like a hundred times in all my posts regarding you, but I guess you either didnt read that, or just took it the wrong way anyways. It was about me sticking up for b_faulks car as its a masterpiece that has won shows and has tons of money invested in it. I always believe that the more modded car should win COTM, just so long as its not tacked on with tons of tacky stuff, which his car obviously isnt, nor is yours, should win. Both yours and his mods are very tasteful IMO. Thats just my mindset. Some people think pics should win it, and some people just think whatever and go on first impression and stuff like that. Plus, it just seemed like something fishy was going on with the voting system. Now, thats just speculation, and ill never know exactly went down, but it just seemed like your vote skyrocketed in a matter of hours, which I have never seen happen before on my time here on the forum. Now, maybe that many people really did vote for your car. Like I said, who knows? I cant prove anything therefore thats not an accusation im gonna make towards you, though I did kinda side with the people saying such things earlier on, which is why I am apologizing. And for the record, since he's banned, tell him my daily commute is 3 hours round trip, which is why I dont want/need a 620whp car like him. Find me a 620whp car that gets 34mpg, and then i'll consider it. And how your car would be "faster and nicer" with an auto than a manual model w/ full bolt ons........ugh, I give up you two.
