The SS 'emblems' are actually ghosted into the paint. Depending on the lighting they do everything from giving a 3-d effect to actually disappearing in with the rest of the paint. It basically depends on how much lighting there is. One of the things I like about them is the effect that occurs as the car is moving. They almost look like they are floating. It is hard to get pictures of the ghosting under different lighting effects...
Oh, and a little background on the color choice. Originally Coby was originally Sport Red Metallic Tintcoat. To get this color, we took the SRMT, subtracted out the wine, and added a bit of black. Then we added 6 coats of pearl on top. The pearl makes it really hard to photograph the true color of the base coat.

Sorry I haven't been on for a few days....
Rissa - Thanks for the offer! I am certainly no photo expert and do not own photoshop (which would be considered a travesty by some) so these pics have not been altered at all. Anyone is more than welcome to grab some shots off my photobucket album and go to town. Here is the link:

I would actually like to see what ideas people can come up with - who knows maybe there is a future project out there that I haven't considered.
It is interesting to read some of the comments... usually people bash my tails since they are the ipcw's but this time it is all about the ghost effects... eh, I don't mind...
Speaking of which, I tried to get some pics of the fade effect - but since the ss emblems only fade in low light conditions and since you can't photograph in low light conditions without a flash it is turning into a lose-lose situation. (I guess you can think of the emblems almost like reflector tape... they basically reflect any light they pick up). Oh well, I will try to see about getting some more pics this weekend anyway so that I can change it up a bit. (I still owe you guys some interior pics anyway...)

See what ya mean about the fade in pic 54, and because of that, I don't think it would have worked in a smaller size. I like it that you hung it out there to try something new, and it seems like it works great, although as you say, I can see how it would be hard to capture the full range of ways the paint can play with light.
Wow... long time no see.... I actually posted this up at the beginning of the month then just kind of dropped off for a while (been dialing in my meth kit and tuning - he is finally done and is a totally different animal)... not sure I will get more pics up before the contest ends - perhaps I will put up another thread this weekend with dyno pics (our local group is doing a dyno day on Saturday)... btw I miss Ron also
Oh and to pbass - thanks for the comment... anytime you do anything with paint effects you run into the issue of not being able to properly convey the effect - I am glad someone gets it...

I'm sorry Tanya. I have mad respect for your car, but I promised 1LSJ2NV my vote before I knew you were running. Next time give me a shout and I'll try to rally some support for you on the east coast.
