[QUOTE=G5ALIVE;7743512]Something looks odd here

Hey man yea so what's going on there is that's the line going from valve cover to intake, it goes from a rubber line off the valve cover to a steel line then to ankther rubber line to the intake. Here's a better pic, it doesn't appear to be punctured in anyway, I did spray it with throttle body cleaner with the car running and no idle up or down. The hose clamp is upside down and I don't know why they put the steel hose in there but

-80 kpa would be like 23.5inch mercury.. That's a lot. But 14.7-17.7 idling, that's a good vacuum.
Here's what the plugs look like lol, looks like it's running rich to me, black and dirty. The two on the passenger side, cylinder 1 and cylinder 3 I believe were a little less black. Which is bank 1 I assume. Which is what I'm having a code for, the plugs in it are BKR6EGP. I noticed a scabby weld on the flex pipe as well. If it's leaking exhaust there that could throw my P0171 code I suppose. I also just found a an Allen key plug on the passenger side of the engine on the timing cover that was loose af and leaking oil out of there, could that be my vaccume leak? 🤔🤞

Here's the Allen key plug that I tightened up. Any knowledge on it?

Yeah that hose looks fine my bad. I'd recommend denso 5304, 0.4mm tip for a performance aspiring application, otherwise go with delcos for longevity.

If I had to guess that's your timing chain tensioner/ bolt thingy....

LSJ's should run NGK BKR6E... if the car is modified with a smaller pulley, BKR7E. Get those exactly - the NGK brand, copper plugs.

That allen is an access point to one of the timing chain tensioner bolts. If it's leaking, then it needs to be sealed (teflon tape or thread sealer) - do NOT overtighten it.

Also you do have an LSJ you keep saying you don't and you do lol and that's not an upgraded supercharger that's the stock supercharger with a smaller pulley... you're running the wrong plugs as well and on the boost vac solenoid one of the nipples vent to atmosphere but it's the bottom one, not the top one.... so whoever ran your vacuum lines 100% has made an attempt to overboosting via vacuum which if the car is actually tuned stage 2 that could be causing a lot of your issues. I would start by making all your vacuum lines run correctly, changing the plugs and flashing the ecu with a proper tune because stage 2 is for stock injectors, #60s with a stage 2 tune will 10000% make you run rich and crappy idle. I have some stock injectors if you want them, also a 2.9in pulley for your supercharger and a modular hub if you want to put that on and keep the #60s in and get a proper tune.

are there any cooling mods done to your car? I would expect your IAT2s to be super sky high right now when you make pulls and have an issue coming down from it so once they get to a certain temp your timing will be retarded and you'll be at a huge power loss. Whoever had this car before you was a hacking artist, I would fix it immediately and not drive it hard until it's fixed unless you want bent valves or a blown motor.

oh and the breather hose on the back of the block is normal, that's how all of ours look, one hard pipe leads to a rubber pipe and that's it lol

Hey man. Yeah, thanks for your input. I think you're getting confused between the original poster who was helping me originally, I started my own thread after this. But yes sir I do have an LSJ and I do believe on my boost vac solenoid it is and always has been only the bottom nipple venting to atmosphere. I took my car to my tuner and when we put it on the hoist we found a hackjob and a half of an exhaust which he believed was done really recently. They hollowed out the cat, straight piped it with a 2'' diameter tube from canadian tire and it also had a cracked tip. Judging by the ZZP air filter that was on the car I think it was tuned likely over a year ago! My mechanic is convinced after we do a full stainless exhaust with a new std duty cat it will likely fix the car completely. Smh no wonder I got the car for so cheap. Oh well I think it will turn out to be a great summer car if I can fix it! Thanks for your help guys!

bro I got my car in basically the same condition, terrible exhaust leak, everything from the inside to the outside all jack up and crappy.... now after about 6 months my car is brand new in and out with a TVS1320 supercharger and all supporting mods and closing in on 400hp, so it's possible.... these cobalts are very resilient, so just take your time, read a lot on these forums and ask as many questions as possible. We are all here to help whenever.

and yeah I was definitely confused hahahaha sorry

Yeah, hell yea man, I knew the old girl has potentional haha, everything else on my car is pretty much stock as far as I can tell the previous owner just did meth one day and decided to go full retard on the exhaust lmfao. I ordered some BKR7E's on Amazon last night, gonna throw them in while my mechanic does the exhaust so we can hopefully get as close to when the car was last tuned with stock exhaust. And with a working cat..
Anyhow yea I've learned alot off here already thanks all for your help so far, I'll keep you guys updated if you're interested.

As you're finding out, they're cheap cars that have been owned by cheap people doing cheap mods. And that's nothing new. It's really been that way since the day they came out.

ZZP makes a pretty good catback system and being in Ontario, they're relatively close (they're in W. Michigan). You could order the full system from them - downpipe included.

Yessir haha, the one question I am left with going into it though, is do you guys think it could be plausible having a hollowed out cat and Str8 piped car could cause my Rpms to jump up and down like I described? I know it will really help with the mpg (:
If not I guess we will have to get a tune emailed to us from ZZP. But luckily my local tuner is a good friend of mine and he does all of my buddies exhausts and tunes them too so Im having him do a 3'' full stainless catback with new cat, basically a magna flow muffler and then to my new tip, possibly with a resonator too if I want it. I'm going to be there when he's doing it and decide if I want resonator haha

I don't think so. I blew my cat out when I was supercharged... caused no issues with how the car ran.

That sounds more like a some general maintenance that needs to be done. Vacuum leak, maybe a dirty MAF, etc.

If anything, my preference is to do the resonator with no muffler, as the resonator will cut down on the rasp of the exhaust. That setup is generally better for turbo cars, since the turbo acts like a muffler. With a supercharged car, I'd undoubtedly do a resonator, and probably a muffler too. I never ran supercharged with a resonator only - only did that once I turbo swapped the car.
