Cummins triples build over the weekend
So instead if working on my car like I had planned I did what I always do and helped someone else. Any other time I would have been a little mad at how long it took us, but this is something most people don't get tell someone they successfully completed on the first try.
Mind you this kit was build custom for the truck and was a said to be a "bolt in" job. It took some creative thinking as always, and almost, more brain power than my buddy Kris and I have put together. haha Long story short all the coolant lines had to be completely rerouted to insure non melting
and we probably had this thing on and off 4 times until we got it right. There is quite a bit packed into that little space there. Stuff has to be just right. Man I thought working on my turbo lsj was bad :P
All in all we had over 30 hours in this over the Thanksgiving break, I had off work thursday-sunday so that helped out a lot. The turbos are Borg Warner, the bottom is the S366 and the top two are S400's. Set at 45-50 Psi for break in, and until we get better valve springs in her and fire ringed. Then we should see upwards of 80psi at hopefully 900 horse. Head studs were installed with the injectors last weekend. We have done the fass fuel system and hot rods bp pump before, and actually have the pump change down to an hour because it's been in and out 6 times now...
Anyways here are some pictures! Didn't think to take any during the install. Sorry guys

We were pretty happy coming down the home stretch

Anybody notice what's unique about how this particular style setup works?

hahahahahaha. You got me there
My other buddy has a 700hp powerstroke on a single Garrett turbo (1400ft lbs) So that was the main driving force for this build. Only downfall is we did a 5 speed swap on this cummins a little over a year ago because he hauls so much and liked the gearing better. So I think the plan is to just beat him pulling sleds because at the track is going to be dang near impossible to get it to come out of the hole like the 7.3 does. Thing smokes all 4 tires to the 60 and still goes 12.8

HOLY MOTHER OF GOD!!! I hearts diesels and that thing is sexy as hell. I need to engine swap my 1995 diesel suburban and do a build like that. It looks like you need to start measuring in cubic miles of airflow per minute instead of cubic feet (CFM)
It doesn't need to turn any faster haha that diesel's pistons travel like 4 miles per stroke in the cylinders haha.

Heck, yank that 5 speed out now and throw a 6 in there...I'm guessing here that the truck is newer than 99 so just get one for a 2001 and it should go right in place of the 5. Can't wait to see video of this monster

Videos should be up sometime next week. Right after we get the injectors replaced. And right after this build the fass fuel pump started leaking so we need to change that. Videos will be untuned, but more to come when it's dyno'd and we're rolling all over sti's gti's and mustangs hehe
