Question HELP: Going SC or TC?

I am going either supercharged or turbo charged but am having trouble deciding what set up will give me the best value?

I have an '07 LT and my first question was if it would even be worth going either SC or TC?

what would be the price range for either set up?

Please help! Thanks...

supercharger is by far a cheaper route, but you'll have trouble making more than 275WHP on a supercharger. If your goals are more than that, then a turbo will become the cheaper way to reach those goals.

^^ spot on.

There are used supercharger systems going for ~1500, normally less...

Turbo systems used can run from about 2 to 3 thousand. I just paid 4200 for my new turbo kit. But that included EVERYTHING.

In other threads like this everyone always tries to argue this in terms of every make and model that has ever existed and been to a track........

Turbo is going to get the the best bang for your buck. Yes it will cost you a little more, but it'll be worth it. A supercharger just isnt' going to be a pretty setup with your car. No supercharger that fits in our engine bay or is practicle with our FWD ecotec set-up will net you as much power as a turbo.

If you drove a 1969 Camaro I'd tell you otherwise, but.......just go turbo.

Has anyone done a Harrop on a Non lsj?

Either way.... For the money, a turbo will net you more power. But with either setup, i wouldnt suggest running to high of boost... unless you build up the engine first.

Amen.

Not to mention I've heard from people who have tested their car thoroughly that the weak part of our cars is the tranny. I've heard that what keeps us from being truly great is the transmission. I hope they improved that for the TC guys. But for an '07 LT, I wouldn't push it too much.

the stock tranny in all cobalts is fine. the F23 ususally requires a clutch, but the F35 in the ss/sc and ss/tc is fine at near 500whp on stock clutch (if you know how to drive), and the 4t45e in the automatics is rated for 325tq and can probably take a decent amount more than that...im betting around 375-400tq
