Not exactly the best motor to build, unless u build the block you'll b lookin @ 7-10psi, if all your plans are just to turbo it I would just look for a ko4, get a piping kit of off ebay and the intercooler, I would get the oil line kit and other parts from a turbo site so you know you have all the right fitments, this whole set-up should run ya around the low end 400-500 high end, my friend who bought an ebay turbo hasn't had any issues in two yrs since he bought it

I have seen a few honda hatches get down with ebay turbo kits.

Anywho, It all in the tune as well. If anything just upgrade the turbo with that kit.

Yes a gd tune will do wonders, but its still a soch and the other expensive part will b the manifold, he wanted to go cheap, so ebay is one of the better choices, not all are junk you have to find the rite dealer/seller, on previous cars I bought parts for I never had any issues, it is hit or miss, but the stuff is cheap enough not to cry over if it fails

turbo it for better 1.5L gas mileage, run no intercooler that will only cool the air and request more fuel. just use an interfooler for a turbo intake I seen that on a lotta hondas that look just like that one.

My friend and I did a D16Z6 and the engine came out really well but he through on an ebay special turbo kit and had horrible trouble with it running right. I mean as long as you are just looking for as little gains as possible, you should be fine. its when you start bumping boost up thats when you run into issues with cheap turbo

yeah i dont have any plans on boosting it up or anything like that not looking to be racing none of that. the car is going into the body shop to get painted white and a purple bay and after that planning on getting a cheapy turbo kit i probably wont even be opening the hood for people so i wont get laughed at haha. you get where im going here? i know its weird but **** i sold one of my cars and have some extra cash i dont know what to waste on and i prety much have the exteior covered. so it was either racing seats or a cheap turbo kit

Ya I mean if you do everything right you will have a nice little car. You will have to do injectors and of course a Hondata to the car so it might run a bit when all is said and done but it will be fun. And best part about it being a honda, if the engine blows just go pick up another one for $150 on craigslist lol

AMEN!

Look into building a kit with a manifold/dp combo like this;
LoveFab INC. | Honda Mini Me Manifold

Love Fab has been a Honda tuner for the past 10 years with a proven track record.

thats toooo much lol im going for something cheap as this is my first time building a car i was always used to buying them built. i bought a 95 civic coupe stripped i swapped a new motor to it all the interior dash etc . i mainly got the exterior done. fogs, lip, yakima rack, window visor, hood bra, wheels, **** that i liked is already done in the exterior. once the income tax money comes in im going to paint it i hate the color it has now aztec green.

so first timer here that i will be building a car and looking to go on a cheap turbo kit i asked for help at the honda forums but all they did was bash on me for going with a turbo kit without building the internals blah blah blah i dont wanna go all out with a cheapy d series just turbo it if it goes out right maybe sell the swap and drop something bigger etc etc for now lookign to stay under 900 $

lol because blowing the motor would have anything to do with the kit? moreso related to amount of boost that was going through but what do i know .

ebay kit will work, kid around here had one for awhile and it was a lil slower than my 3.0/42/custom tune lsj. then he got greedy i guess and motor popped lol.. or you could get a b series and swap it in for like 1-2k easy...shell looks clean from the pic and 2500 max if you buy smart for an all motor car that will be just a bit slower than a normal modded lsj isn't bad...

Ya issue is you will have to spend the most of your money on a tune if you don't want to pick up car parts off the side of the road after the first drive. The turbo kits will be easy enough to get. The injectors depend upon what turbo you are getting also the maf sensor. You will probably have to pick up a larger one but without any of the specs of the kit there is no way for me to tell you exactly what you need.

More than likely your assumption that the kit, tune, and associated parts will cost less than 900 bucks is a long shot

Listen, you don't want to skimp out on FI goods. If you want the parts and car to last, you will need to spend some coin. From experience as I have been doing this for the past 10 years as a professional and 15 as an enthusiast. Don't skimp. It will come back to haunt you. Turbos that last 3 months, manifolds that don't fit or crack after 6 months....No worth it.

didnt read any other posts but the first few and i would like to state a few points.

1. if ur building a d15 it really doesnt matter what turbo kit on it, if ur not building the motor its gonna blow on any moderate boost level.

2. ur friend did not blow his motor due to an ebay turbo kit, 99 chances out of 100 he thought he could run more boost than his motor could handle.

3. Ebay parts are not all junk, not even a valuble statesment whatsoever, my buddy has a greddy and an ebay knockoff greddy. The ebay fits better and sounds better. Same with other and intakes i have installed.

4. If u want the sound of a turbo and an intercooler for LOOKS, why the effff would u not go for an ebay kit to give u the turbo sound and an intercooler. Run 5-6 psi if ur not going for speed.

5. YA lets buy an expensive kit whenever we arent going for speed and the motor will be 100% unreliable on anything over 10psi (sarcasm)
