KD04 vs. K04

so..... whats the difference between the mistu. kd04 and the borgwarner k04??
only thing i can visually see is the waste gate and bypass valves are different, other than that they both look exactly the same!

any info would be great...... i just did the swap to a kd04 and was just wondering because it feels just like the stock turbo did, had to swap due to my turbo breaking and will be going bigger turbo soon, might try to dyno with this turbo on to see any difference from stock

thanks!

vince says that the borg k04 (stock) and this mistsu kd04 both can come stock on the new LHU buick regal 2.0 turbo....so picking up this turbo wasnt a bad idea i guess

A part of your question seems to be about the name.

Technically our K04 is a KD04 too, because it's a "Dual-scroll", and is even called a KD04 on some older documentation. Just a random factoid for y'all.

I've been looking, I can't find one unfortunately! What car uses this turbo normally? *sigh* so many variables!

Does anyone know the part number, I'll call Mitsubishi dealerships and put them to work.

Let me tell you a little story about Mitsubishi...

JUNK.

There is no comparison between Borg Warner and Mitsubitchi.

ill look for more of these as well.....

yea mitsu is junk imo as well, but this turbo offers a direct bolt in for cheap when in need of a functional turbo..

and so far it is very much the same as my stock turbo as far as power, i cant tell any difference myself...

ive seen alot of good mitsu turbos they can last a pretty dam long time and take alot of abuse, but ive never had a warner... have you looked into the kkk k04's they are much more prevalent because they are common on vw audis they are the turbo of choice for upgrading gti's that or a gt28.... pretty sure the kkk turbos are borg warner though.
