LSJ turbo intake manifold restriction HELPP

Im running those zzp lsj intake manifold adaptor plates for the lsj.
My maf cuts out if i run more than 14 psi of boost, starting around 6krpm.
If i turn the boost down to 12 or so, i can rev the enging all the way out. But at 14/6k i can monitor the MAF Hz drop and the car/rpms freeze.

Does anyone run these plates? or have information that the stock lsj manifold is too restrictive for my to4e 50 trim .63?

I do have a 2.5" exhaust catless as well

Bass_Waves 12-06-2013 10:05 AM

why not just buy the modified manifold from zzp? they only like 200$

Bass_Waves 12-06-2013 10:06 AM

boy was i wrong. they 350 lol

noorj 12-06-2013 10:06 AM

the intake manifold is not too restrictive and is not the cause of your problem.

what is the size of the pipe your maf is in?

i944scania 12-06-2013 10:15 AM

when i did the build last year, the manifolds were kind of pricey. So for the sake of getting the car back together, i went with the plates.
Its 2.5" intercooler piping, the maf housing is a little under 3"

armcclure 12-06-2013 11:01 AM

That's the problem. Not the IM.

beat me to it

Put the maf in a 3 or 3.5" pipe

i944scania 12-06-2013 01:59 PM

Measured today. The Maf is in a 3" housing.

noorj 12-06-2013 02:26 PM

whats your maf fail set to

jp1600 12-06-2013 03:39 PM

Ill bet there is a problem in your torque management tables, your boost is probably limited to the stock 12lbs

noorj 12-06-2013 03:50 PM

i highly doubt that

jp1600 12-06-2013 03:56 PM

Just an idea, either way, he turns the boost down to stock level and its fine

Have you ever used hp tuners? Lol

jp1600 12-06-2013 04:00 PM

Yup, i have, and do, just throwing out an idea, could very well have his maf fail set to 10,000, just throwing out an idea, no need to be hostile

armcclure 12-06-2013 04:05 PM

That's irrelevant. Catch up.

Edit: not being hostile. Just stating tq management is irrelevant when he's using none if the sensors/solenoids that control it.

jp1600 12-06-2013 04:11 PM

Good point lol
Wasnt really sure if any of the values would be used

i944scania 12-06-2013 06:25 PM

Everything was tried..we explored any may issues that could be holding the system up.
Also, 12 psi isn't a stock pressure because it was an LSj sc. Now its an aftermarket turbo that pushes much more air than the m62. So whatever pressure I set it to, its kinda far from stock :)

i944scania 12-06-2013 06:26 PM

So there are no ecu related controls for my boost.

ItalianJoe1 12-06-2013 06:30 PM

What is your MAF HZ value when it dies?

jp1600 12-06-2013 06:36 PM

Yeah i get what your sayin 944, i've only messed with sc, i was thinking about unused tables, mcclure got me on the right path there. Sittin back w my popcorn

I can't remember, I'd have to ask my tuner. But it the frequency would climb normally with the rising airflow and then start to stop around 5800rpm and the car starts to slug. Then at like 6k the freq dropped to like idle freq when still pushing air at 19psi

i944scania 12-06-2013 07:13 PM

I mean, it feels like a clogged cat! Car completlry falls on its face. Unless I run 12 psi or lower it seems to rev out well. The waste gate dumps well at that lower psi. Even at 15psi it did but as soon as it hits that high rpm spot, gives out and the waste gate dump sound horrible

Bad-A-SS 12-06-2013 07:44 PM

Have your tuner to send you some screenshots and then post them for us to see bud

armcclure 12-06-2013 07:52 PM

Logs would be better.

Anyone Wanna Take A Look?

I dont know how to view the HP file, i dont have the soft ware. but my tuner posted on this forum. Maybe you guys can view it. the tune has changed since then slightly.
