which pistons?
diamond or wiseco?
ive heard nothing but good about the diamond pistons...
wiseco i threw the one in my dirtbike and my fourwheeler away because they were garbage. and from a very smart guy that is no longer on here i heard the wiseco pistons arent good for boost???
also how much power can the eagle forged rods handle? im hoping to hit over 400 hp one of these days with a fully forged, studed and twin charged 2.2.

Wiescos are good for boost....there's a lot of high hp applications that us them. Personally I like je pistons over diamond and wiesco all together.
I can't really answer your questiom for rods because I don't use eagle in any of my cars. Therefore I really have no exprience with them.
Oh by the way your heatshields are on there way to you

well i really dont hear anything bad about eagle but ive never actually ran them so i cant vouche for them. i just know for forced induction internals is not something to skimp on.

Our rods are forged and will handle your 400 whp just fine. Be more concerned about sleeves. But even then with proper tuning you could still be ok at that hp level with the stock sleeves. Just my 2 cents

anyway, JE has a specific casting for using LSJ rods in a L61 block (i imagine LAP block is the same case). This is actually one of the better options for low boost because the LSJ rods are longer than almost all the aftermarket forged rods.
The downside is, being longer, they wont allow as much thickness in the piston for higher boost applications. but for 95% of the cobalt community, this setup works quite well

i would have to get on the laptop but its from gm. i found the link in the 2.2 l61 section

...my understanding was that you cant have forged powder metal parts...
powder metal involves bonding a mass of metal powder by heating them to a very high temperature, whereas forged involves pounding a solid slug of metal into a mold..
If you CAN have them both, why are they not the default forged parts, as powdered metal allows perfect balancing?
now im more confused. Awesome base of information there, there's a lot there

i dont. I just ran through one of the build books and dint find it, but im pretty certain it was JE that made them. Give them a call and they should be able to tell. Alternatively, any manufacturer can make a custom set of pistons that work with LSJ rods.

I will note though that in the build book, they only recommend LSJ rods for power goals at or below 300hp. Of course we know thats a conservative number, but, just throwing it out there.

yeah its kind of a horse a piece. you could really go either way, but i know i wont ever use eagle rods to their full potential but if i use lsj rods i could be pushing my saftey buffer.
