weird issue with turbo

On my turbo 2.4 i keep experiencing this issue.

when i get close to redline the car feels like its bogging and backfiring.. the only way i can avoid it is to switch gears..

i tried turning down the boost controller to see if that was it, and it almost seemed like it worked. so i eventually turned it back up. im gonna try turning it back down again and seeing if that helps. im at a complete loss cuz it was fine then all of a sudden this happens and i dont even really know where to start..
my friends say its possibly the wastegate flapping or bov not working but the bov i can hear clearly and idk how to diagnose wastegate issues. any suggestions?

could possibly be spark plugs. Which ones do you have? What are they gapped at and how long have they been in?

autolite iridiums.. gapped at wutever they came as out the box. cant remember but i just put em on like 2500 miles ago.. interesting thing to note is it started to do this right after i swapped em and tried it out.

most likely spark blow out... close the gap in and see if that helps... and stick to coppers they work better for turbo applications

Yes I agree with the above. Def. use a copper spark plug and depending on boost level I would start out at like .035" and if its still the same I would make it tighter.

im pretty sure its spark blowout. after reading on other forums and seeing what others described as the symptom im sure thats wut it is. i have a set of ngks properly gapped that ill try if i cant get my autolites gapped correctly.
