What is a clamped MAP

i see you guys use the term map clamp for a map after the blower
what exactly is this map clamp, is it really a "clamp"

ive been a mechanic for a number of years and have yet to hear of what this is

teach an old dog new tricks!

I belive its a way to stop the MAP sensor reading past its max voltage. Voltage is clamped at max so the ECU doesn't throw any codes for over boost. IIRC. Usually, there will be some other way to take over from the ECU to handle the extra boost, otherwise its pointless.

A map clamp is used to lean out the A/F ratio by making the ECU think that there is less boost than there really is, leaning out the fuel mixture in turn creates more power. Basically what a JET chip does, except a map clamp is usualy adjustable, and much cheaper.

also a map clamp is not multi point...a safc is a better way to go...self can get into that if he wants too..

I'm not too fond of the AFC hack myself.

Modifying the Signal from the Mass Air To the ECU as a way to tune it away from the factory settings.
