What is squires turbo setup?
if you dont have the room under the hood like vettes. everything runs cooler from not being under the hood=longer life + longer travel through the charge pipes to intercooler= cooler intake charge. but the lag as you can imagine is greater
My mods are in my sig. Doing a turbo swap in these cars is very straight forward. You have many options for bolt on kits or custom. I would stay away from an STS on these cars and stick to the engine mounted kind.
ive installed a few. its usually much cheaper and its better than no turbo but i would see it as an option of last resort. the problem is as the exhaust gas cools it loses velocity which will contribute to lag. Also having to pressurize 14 feet of intercooler piping will do 2 things first the turbo will have to pressurize those pipes along with the engine so that contributes to lag. and also the turbo has to spin faster to achieve the same boost pressure therefore negating some of the cooling benefits. also the pipes usually aren't straight obviously they would have to be subject to some bends. I found these kits work best on high displacement single turbo pickup trucks namely the ram SRT10 was the best. i've done a couple SSR's too. However every setup we have tried has made less power per psi then a conventional setup. Not by much on the corvette c6 we would see the same power at 8 psi that we normally see at 6 on a normal set up. I would highly recommend getting the whole exhaust ceramic coated. And finally I don't know why this happens but I seem to see alot of them leak oil. this is not to say its an inferior product or anything because I dont know but that has been my expierience. but if all you have is the money for a universal kit its better than nothing if not get the zzp kits.
