No. They used conventional power steering. Obviously something was wrong with it.

Not every car that has a power steering issue is related to this recall. Seriously...

I didn't figure it was related, but I figured I'd ask..

I also notice that alot of G6's have a weird steering issue where it turns like **** one way, but turns super fast the other..

Took mine in today and service writer said it would have to go on diagnostics... I thought a recall was just that , a recall to replace the parts...

Don't feel like reading the rest of the thread. I got the first letter and just today the powerstearing f'ed up. Do I have to wait for the second letter or can I just got to the dealer mine is a 06 so if they are doing it by year from what i can see i should have received mine already. Its just gonna be a pain in the ass considering I live in the city.
Now i also have to get my sychros checked out too cause first and reverse have popped out on me today pretty gay.

It must use a different power steering motor. Crawl under your dash and check it out if you are curious, it may not even be a Denso.

pretty sure its the same one because a bunch of people on redline forums are having the same problem also if you google saturn ion steering it comes up with a bunch of consumer complaints about the power steering

I'm wondering this about the supposed second letter as well. I've not had any messages on the DIC telling me about a power steering problem but yesterday when I parked the car I left it on and turned the wheel and it was making a rubbing sound--louder than the "normal" rubbing sound. I need to take my Cobalt in for an oil change and maintenance soon and would like to get everything done in one trip as I drive 50 miles each way to the dealer.

The execs at GM probably think that because they killed Saturn there is no point.

I spoke to one of my GM customers about this today. They are a Pontiac dealer. According to them GM has not shipped any replacement parts for the recall. That's why a second letter hasn't been sent yet.

I'm still looking for my first letters. Both of my Cobalts are in the pointbreaks. I even called GM to make sure my info was updated.

I never received letters for either of my Cobalts even though both of them fall into the vin point breaks. My dealership looked out for me and both of my Cobalts now have this fixed. Go to your dealer and have them check your vin.

I got one letter, but haven't gotten the second yet.

And on another note...I like how they say 1.3 million to be recalled, yet if you go into the thread about the last Cobalt produced they say between 05-10 only 1.1 million were produced lol

Power steering went out monday 10k miles

My power steering motor went out monday I was driving and all of a sudden no power steering the dash lit up said check engine check power steering check airbag I have 10k miles on my 09. The dealership replaced it in a few hrs but it took 2 days to get the parts motor and relays. I only had no power steering for about 30 seconds or so no big deal. I never got my second letter but I would say my car qualified!
