"SS" and "V" Series Vehicles Disbanded
I think the "SS" badging was getting a little out of hand; slapped on too many bland cars. Look at that malibu SS with a mind blowing 240hp 6-cyl.
I mean why were there 2 versions of cobalt ss anyway? if SS stands for "Super Sport" why wasn't the 2.4l kept at just "Sport"? Not that I want to crap on the 2.4l.
I wonder what this might do to resale value? Such cercumstances can bolster nostalgia. Maybe it could be a bit of a silver lining for us SC guys if the TC cars are scarce.

wow I never felt so let down about my choice of choosing a gm product might as well go buy a mustang now.
Just think of all the core supporters of the performance series that they just gave up, even if GM brings back the performance line they will have to get what they can from the people they let get the performance cars from other auto manufactures like VW - GTI, Ford - Shelby Mustang, Lexus - ISF, BMW, Dodge - Challenger/Charger SRT, **** even Hyundai with the Genesis

well whats this say for the value of our cars then..... instant classics ?
when the economy gets better everyone will want something with a little more pep, suddenly gm rolls out their new ss line

That's a Nissan. Now you're cheating. lol.
Honestly, I'd love to get an R32 Skyline. If I ever got one, I'd drive it everyday and probably keep it until I died. Probably use it as my casket when I died too. lol. I ******* love those. Nismo, Mines, Blitz.. My lord.

Looks like the Cobalt SS is safe for the life of the Cobalt nameplate...also...this leads me to believe that the performance kit is still on...

Lol sweet, you know they should have made the cobalt ss's awd to keep up with the comp. then they would be up there with WRX and EVO's then chevy would have a name for themselves
see look at this quote from autoblog "Muniga went on to say that there are no plans for high-performance versions of upcoming plans, but once (if?) GM is in a better financial position, the team could be reinstated."
Ugh... great.. yea so much for that stage kit!! I hope they release it, but still.. WTF?? This pisses me off.. I just bought my new 09 SS/TC and probably would not have if I saw this coming... Very upsetting. And I agree, if Chevy goes to the Toyota style of boring, fuel effecient cars, it's all down hill from there. The spirit of America will refer to the wine that the fuel efficient drivers are drinking instead of the soul of the cars and drivers. UGH...
Ya know, I dont feel sorry for GM, they are the dumb ***** who waited until the last minute to say, umm, maybe we should try and cut some costs. It does bother me however, that GM, the company whos products seem to be better than the rest of the US croud, is the one hurting the most. GMs technology, performance, quality, its all WAY ahead of chrysler or ford.
LMAO at person saying VW is over engineered and Audi isnt... Not to much in the upper story eh?
Both are over engineered, and a huge PITA to work on, while being very expensive. But there is an age old saying about getting what you pay for... anyone heard of it? I wouldnt trade my car for something american. I like cobalts, a very nice car, for an american economy car. I wouldnt want one as a DD, ever. Maybe as a light-weight track toy, we know the SS tears that **** up!
I wish GM good luck, because we are screwed with out them.

If the performance division didn't finish with the redesign of the stage 1 upgrade for the Cobalt SS/TC that option may have to fall on the aftermarket -- meaning no warranty with that upgrade either...
