"SS" and "V" Series Vehicles Disbanded
Miatas are very small as well. I've never driving a Sky, but I drove a Solstice. It's definitely not a car for everyone. If you don't need to carry passengers and you lived in a reasonable climate, it's a bomb ass car. It seems a little more spacey than the Miatas I've driven though..
the chrysler problem was entirely different back when they were part of the DCX group. Mercedes wouldnt let them build anyhing that would compete with their cars. ( the ME Four Twelve comes to mind). I dont know if cutting out all of the high performance vehicles is a great idea but obviously the route they're taking now isnt working. As for going the route of toyota, may not be such a bad idea, they may be boring, but they arent broke either
He said they barely know more than the public when it comes to these things and that GM Corporate doesn't give Dealers a whole lot of info about their plans until the decisions are made.
Hmmmm....220 hp 4 cylinder turbo aimed at being modded; brembo brakes and rwd. Hyundai Genesis Coupe Spec R here I come. Cobalt should have been RWD. Hate to see an american company go down but unless someone restructures the factories and the outrageous pay these workers get...GM will not survive. Sorry Union guys...but things have to change if GM is to survive.
this is the 80s all over again, we'll go through 10 or so years of useless cars before they can afford to redo the performance lines. Thankfully now we have engines like the 2.4 that get great gas mileage in midsize cars that match V6 powerplants of the 90s in power and torque.
The fact that GM will be eliminating performance vehicles that the average Joe can afford is disheartening. This could also have a negative effect on the rest of the performance industry. As rival companies usually follow suit with what there competition is doing.
As for Mustang GT, I would still not own one, unless they go on a crash diet and become a little more refined. The new Camaro is just as porky as the Mustang. Not sure if this means they will kill the SS Camaro variant, or just go with a Z28, and not create a high end model like the GT500. Really doesn't matter anyway, as these cars will cost more than the average Joe can spend.
I will probably be buying used vehicles in the future. I am very happy with my Turbo cobalt, and since its brand new, I might be able to survive 5-6 years until GM can get its act together.
Change, the only true constant....

+1, I would expect them to cut the corvette (though it would be sad to see it go) or cancel the camaro, but why cancel compact powerhouses, 30MPG highway and 315WHP for $23000 is something to keep, refine and make more appealing, not destroy before it's full potential is realized.
The Corvette nor Camaro is going anywhere. But the ZR1 will be short lived, and Z06 may be discontinued. The Z28 may also be canceled, but the SS is still on its way.
Way to go GM, your high performance vehicles are the only ones worth buying. Keep making worthless cars like the HHR, Impala, the entire Buick and Pontiac line, SUVs that people no longer want, and most of all a 40,000 dollar electric car that nobody can afford that your selling at a loss. See if those bail you out.
Building completely uninspired cars aimed at balancing a checkbook rather than building a customer base, sounds awfully like Chrysler. If this company even lasts another 5 years they won't have anything even worth buying just like Chrysler is now.

not gonna start a debate about this, just for your personal benefit and information. The camaro is quite a bit more of a porker than the mustang gt by about 300-400 lbs and the new mustang is much much more refined than previous models. The interior is 10x better than before.
09 GT Stang = 3540lbs
09 GT500 = 3800
new camaro = 3750lbs (no one is sure if this is the V6 or V8 weight)
As for refined, since I am more of a track guy now-a-days, the GT is less than stellar when corners are involved, consdiering it losses to a 4cyl Cobalt on the track. Yes, the int is much better than the previous Stang. I have driven a Manual 08 GT Stang, and was not impressed at all, but thats just an opinion.
I'm good friends with my local dealership's owner ......And he came right out and said that most of this inside dealer info is bullshit .
He said they barely know more than the public when it comes to these things and that GM Corporate doesn't give Dealers a whole lot of info about their plans until the decisions are made.

You peeps who say **** gm, im gonna go buy a v-dub or some other retarded rice burner, **** YOU. That thought is one of the biggest reasons GM is having the trouble that thay are in. Go ahead and flame me, screw you, I am an American!
P.S. You also know what grinds my gears? Why does every ricer who is modded out want to race me? Impress me, race me stock to stock, not modified to my stock.
Thank you, have a nice day
