"Supplier" Pricing, Red Tag Sales, 11/14 - 1/3
<img src="https://www.cobaltss.net/articles/redtag.gif" align="left" border="0" hspace="5" vspace="5">GM TO BEGIN NATIONWIDE INCENTIVE PROGRAM NOVEMBER 14
DETROIT -- General Motors is starting a national incentive program to run through Jan. 3 despite claims that it would hold to its value pricing strategy.
The program, called GM Red Tag Event, starts Monday, Nov. 14, auto dealers say.
Under the program customers can get any 2005 or 2006 Buick, Pontiac, GMC or Chevrolet car or light truck at the supplier price plus $100, several dealers say. The exceptions to the sale are the Pontiac Solstice, Chevrolet Corvette and new Buick Lucerne, they say. The supplier price is the price offered to employees of GM suppliers.
For example, a 2006 Buick LaCrosse has a sticker price of $23,595, says a Buick dealer who asked not to be named. The supplier price is $21,996, he says. Customers also can use any applicable incentives. GM offers a $1,500 rebate on the LaCrosse. Therefore, the vehicle would cost $20,596, the dealer said.
Value pricing?
GM's last big national incentive program, Employee Discount for Everyone, ended Sept. 30.
Mark LaNeve, GM's vice president of vehicle sales, service and marketing, had insisted that GM would stick to a value pricing strategy for 90 days and offer no big national incentive programs. But the automaker reported a 23 percent sales drop in October from the year-ago month, and dealers have been pleading for more incentives.
Dealers asked GM executives about value pricing during a closed-circuit broadcast on Friday, Nov. 11. Executives told them that there are two big selling seasons -- summer and year end. Dealers say GM executives told them GM would be "crazy not to have a promotion" during the year end because "all the competition will."
GM's value pricing strategy consists of lowering sticker prices on the base models of certain vehicles. The program is designed to move the stickers closer to the transaction prices.
GM told dealers that it will start a national advertising campaign on Sunday, Nov.13, using the slogan, "See some red. Save some green."
GM will send red tags to dealers to hang in the vehicles' windows with the revived advertising phrase, "The price you see is the price you pay, not a penny more."
"It's not nearly as good as GM's employee pricing sale," says Ken Fichtner, owner of Fichtner Chevrolet in Laurel, Mont. "It's 2 percent higher for the customer than GM employee pricing was."
Fichtner says GM will give dealers $400 gross profit per vehicle under the promotion.

This is actually disappointing that GM had to do this. America should really step up to the plate, And help the American Automakers, And quit buying IMPORTS for at least 6 months! But, Unfortunately, No one outside this forum will see this and follow my words. If anyone directly connected to GM or the other two-thirds of the Big Three reads this, I apologize on behalf of all the Americans that haven't done their part to keep the greatest American institutions in check.

I'm not on a high horse, Thanks. And my shoes, Believe it or not are RED WING BOOTS.
Oh, And I sure as hell try to buy American products whenever possible. Not if its cheaper. If it's American.
Oh, And I never said being connected to the Big three wasn't their choice. Dunno how you got that from my post, But ok.
And I'm done on this subject.
PS: I'm not saying I'm better than other Americans, I'm just as bad. I'm only saying that WE need to take responsibility. And just because I want a BMW, Does not mean I think their cars are superior. Imports are kinda like toys for me.lol But when there's a job to do, AMERICAN ALL THE WAY. Just a little sidenote, I can't even get on a horse!
PPS: Jonel, I apologize for not keeping a friendly atmosphere in this thread.

I'd rather give my money to the japanese for a better built car and to the better, more promising economy they have than to GM, who builds shitty cars in mexico and canada. Corporate greed has killed GM.

Majority of import brand vehicles are MADE IN THE USA. All Accords, Civics, Altima's, titan's, Tacoma's, Sentra's, Eclipse's, Lancer's, Camry's, etc. are assembled right here in our country, employing, providing health care for, and feeding american families. In the past, this argument was valid, but nowdays, if we boycott imports, we screw ourselves. believe me, I'm as much a patriot as anyone here, but you also have to realize reality. If Japan/Europe didn't employ as many americans as they do, then I would be import bashing too. But it's not the case.

Y'know what, I am retracting my previous statement. I give, I'm just gonna go with it. Hell, Who am I kidding, Even HARLEY DAVIDSON has a few imported parts.

We let them "in" because most are made in here in the first place... which means jobs and good lives for the americans that shouldnt be buying the products... also it means good jobs for the car dealership full of employees, and mechanics that can work on them, and then used car dealerss once they get old.... these cars are good for the economy
