Basically people are driving less so demand is down. lower demand means lower prices.

True that but "cheap"? Cheap is when I used to pay .85 cents a gallon.

They want us to think its "cheap" now that its down to $3.20ish

Fear of a lackluster global economy and growth means less demand. Commodities/oil have been dropping, knock on wood. knowing the stock market speculation, they will probably read this and raise prices haha!

Yet I don't understand how we (our lovely goverent leaders) can still let oil companies rake in billions upon billions in profits.

You gotta love rocket/feather effect. Prices rocket up and feather down, never coming fully back down. Then when it comes back down some, they try and make us believe it's "cheap" as you said. Gotta love it

Because the govt is subsidizing gas, so your paying for it you just don't know that you are.

Gas hasn't gone down here not even one penny this month. But I live in the people's socialist republic of Seattle.

Gas is going down for everyone else because the futures market has a terrible outlook on the global economy and is bailing out on oil, and pretty much everything else.
