How many miles do you get on a tank?

I got a 2009 cobalt... auto...AC. Stock car

I drive 75% highway @ 60mph and 25% city. At 530km (330miles) my low fuel light comes on ... and I typically hit the pump at 545km (339miles)... I dont use my AC.

Is this typical?

It has me wondering, because my 2003 cavalier with an ecotec would go 600-650km (372 - 403 miles) per tank with the same route to work. Although it was 5-speed std.

Just curious

Thanks

Sorry ... my cobalt is an LS ( NO turbo and NO bigger motor)

crazydude 12-09-2010 12:16 AM

and I am using factory cruise control

MORE INFO FOR YOU

45.5L got me 545kms

Do_WorkSS 12-09-2010 12:21 AM

i generally get about 36H/30C. this is with an intake, full exhaust, MAF, retune, and 17 inch tires. so not that bad i would say

DaBuzzard 12-09-2010 02:29 PM

I run about 625 km on a tank but I am >90% highway. Low fuel has come on maybe 50% of the time when I fill it.

BTW, miles per tank means nada unless you are comparing cars with identical tanks - same make / model for the most part.

Your cavy had a 15.2 gallon tank, your balt has a 13.9 gallon tank. If they both got the same mpg you would go farther on a tank in the cavy but I would hazard a guess you get better economy out of the balt even if it is an automatic ;)

I currently have a stock 2005 cobalt LS with a 44L tank and i get 425km on every tank of gas, 5 more or less everytime

LOL all this talk of liters and kilometers.

I get about 190 miles to a tank. :twothumbs

emiller 04-04-2011 06:47 PM

I get 27mpg. What's your actual gas mileage? Like the other guy said your comparison is meaningless if the cars have a different size tank.

O9cobaltSS 04-04-2011 06:50 PM

i do about 85% city driving heavy footed and get mid 17's for avg mpg

alleycat58 04-04-2011 06:54 PM

My actual (calculated, not DIC) mileage is right around 15-16mpg. Same as above, 85-90% city driving. Stock gas tank.

ssyellow 04-04-2011 06:58 PM

I get 29-32 mpgs. I fill up early but generally get 250-280 miles.

All In 360 04-04-2011 07:37 PM

Last time I checked I had gotten around 26mpg.

90% highway,
at 55-60mph, temps above 50 degrees, 34 mpg.

23 mpg city

90% highway at temps below 50 degrees, at 55-60 mph, 29 mpg

90% highway at 80+ mph: 25 mpg.

redcobalt07 04-04-2011 11:22 PM

300-350. Depends if I hit the track or not during that trip.

BLAZIN07SS 04-04-2011 11:23 PM

with the way i drive now that i'm turbo'd? i get about 230-240 miles to the tank

redcobalt07 04-04-2011 11:23 PM

LS6Rally 04-04-2011 11:25 PM

Keep in mind I pay almost $10/fillup less than everybody else. Makes the freakout so much less severe. Then again I used to get 41mpg highway out of her with just the intake and exhaust on, so it's a bit of an adjustment. I run the calculation and get back 20mpg and I just about jump out of the car to do a happy dance in the middle of the gas station.

Acey 04-05-2011 11:13 AM

Varies greatly for me cause of the way I drive... in weeks where my driving is all highway I'll get as much as 50% more out of a tank than other times.
