Even though the Garrett Cobalt isn't as trick as some of yours' on the site, I hope to be able to share some of what we've done with our 2.2L Ecotec as well as our work with some of the Cobalt racers out there including Marty Ladwig, Bryan Jiminez and Erica Nocita.

To g5mike, I'm not sure that I understand the question entirely. The gains made by the Garrett Cobalt Alpha Kit have resulted in less horsepower than the Hahn Turbo Kit, but they are for different engines. The 198 HP that the Garrett Alpha Kit produces is on a 2.2L Ecotec whereas the Hahn Turbo Kit is putting down 241 HP on a 2.4L. The Hahn Kit is based off of the Garrett GT Tuner Kit. Running through the math of percentage of power gains versus stock horsepower at the wheels (estimated based on HP numbers found at www.chevrolet.com; 148 and 177 respectively and subtracting 25% for drivetrain loss), both kits result in approximately 155% of the stock HP at 8 psi. I hope that this helps to alleviate any confusion.

We look forward to being a member of the community and hope to see more and more Garrett turbocharged Cobalts out there!
Glad to see your company here on the forum as supporting vendors.
I am one of those Cobalts that will be running your turbos. My question is why the hold up in getting the GT45 to your Canadian dealer, JRP???
We really need this turbo ASAP but we get no answer to when or even if it is on it's way yet.
Your response is greatly anticipated and appreciated.

have you guys attempted to fit your Garrett kit onto any Ions?

and do you have any info on the SCT tuning software used with it...is it just a reflash or is it a tune loaded through their livewire setup?

just for clarification, the exhaust manifold will fit?

Yes. The manifold geometery is identical on all the Ecotecs front and back.

Why only 198 hp out of the 2.2? It's capable of much more than that.

Sorry, no, we haven't tried it on the Ion. There are 7 other models (not including trim levels), besides the Cobalt, using a variant of the Ecotec engine that we believe may work with one form of the kit or another, but we haven't tried them. We have been made aware that the Garrett GT Tuner Kit fits the Pontiac G5, so it would seem reasonable that the Saturn Ion would readily host the Garrett GT Tuner Kit; but again, we have not physically fit the kit nor have we tried the tuning available with the Garrett Alpha Turbo Kit, so we can't be certain and will therefore not advertise that it fits anything other than the Cobalt 2.2L and now, with Hahn's adaptation, the Cobalt SS 2.4L.

yes but out of all of them, the Ion is the only direct cousin (not counting the G5)...it only makes sense to test it for both. it would be like designing a kit for the Cavalier and not the Sunfire...

I'm not so much worried about the physical installation of the kit itself as I am the tuning...
