Nah, now is later. :P

Here it is:

This is our new waterborne paint system (about a week old). Note that only the base is waterborne, the clear coat is still regular solvent based.

Here's the car in the booth:

Can you see the happy look in her face now that its almost done? ;-)

It will be painted tomorrow and the bumpers and spoiler and the bodyside mouldings will be painted seperatly. Theres just no room for them in the booth. ;-)

Unfortuneatly after this my car will look like everyone else so the interest will definately die down. But yea this is her now, so enjoy! ;-)

Well she's shiny guys i just wish i had a better camera so you could all see how glossy it is. You can literally see yourself in it. ;-) My Co-worker painted it for me since i'm not a painter. It looks really good! check it out:

Looks good to me. ;-)

The smacked quarter i fixed used to look like this:

And heres the quarter panel on the passenger side:

The paint is still very sticky letting it gas off over night slowly to get that show car finish. All thats left are the bumpers and the spoiler. Those should be painted this week. Till then i'll be reassembling the car and i should be driving it soon! ;-)

Well i can tell, but i have a trained eye. But anyone thats really fussy could find small little things here and there. ;-) I can't take the credit for the paint job though, thats my co-workers job. I just preped it out for him. Hes the best painter i know. Thanks for all the positive comments!

First off, everything is lookin good in the pics and nice masking paper btw lol.

I'm sure you already knew this, (I'm assuming you have been doing body work for a while) but when spraying metallics like Sunburst Orange, it is ideal to fan out the spray gun and turn up the air/turn down material, and spray light coats. This causes the metallic to be even and prevent "clouding" and many other issues. Good luck, and yea i have shot sunburst before and i know what u mean about all the colors in it. when i mixed mine up i think it was the most complex formula i have ever seen.

That's sick. I also bought my 06 cobalt wrecked. Although nowhere near as badly. I'll post up some pics of mine when I can get around to it.

I originally paid 3200$ for the car finished its going to be less than 8000$. Check out the original post if you like. ;-)

I worked on it last night from 9pm-midnight but it was still scary wet (the paint) I was putting in the windows and the back lights. I also worked all day today on it. The whole thing is reassembled except for the bumpers and the spoiler. Those are getting painted tomorrow. So she'll be done at the end of the week hopefully. After a good cleaning she oughta look real nice. I spent some time today after i was done reassembling the car cleaning and polishing the rims.

Right now i'm looking at getting real mud flaps. It came with those stupid extended peices of plastic off the fender liners. Those things look like ass. Does anyone know of a good quality Aftermarket set thats a molded style? Or even if you can get OEM molded mudflaps?

Any input is appreciated and i'll probably be posting some more pics near the end of the week. ;-)

Dragged my ass into work today with my partner in crime:

Wanted to finish off the bumpers and the spoiler today and some other tidbits:

There it is all ready to go. As you can see i decided to shoot all the silver trim. ;-) Might as well while i'm at it, it was all scrached up from use. GJ GM just using base on the trim, a little clear coulda gone a long way!

Theres Mew shooting the **** ;-):

While he was doing that i went and raped the heater control and some stereo buttons out of a parts balt in the back so i would have chrome accents and no silver left in the car. The heater controls where silver now they are black! ;-)

Theres the stuff in base:

And a little clear coat:

Had some grub and came back after the bake cycle and reassembled it back in the car. I know its nothing new but hey, i'm proud of the handy work and Mew is a good painter:

That **** looks good! ;-) yay for me, first mod! as you can see the steering wheel cap is still silver. I kinda screwed up when i was taking the tape off. I went a little too fast and the fresh paint peeled off ><. But i decided it was a little too BAM in the steering wheel. So i'll just tape it off again and do it in satin black. I think it will look better!

Gotta throw the bumpers on the car monday and clean my disgusting interior so dusty ><. Then its inspection time, hopefully i wont have any nasty supprizes that will cost me more money. Gotta program a new remote and cut a spare key so me and ma girl have a set each. FYI dont ever lose your keys. A new key is 50 dollars(uncut) and the remote is a whooping 100 dollars(unprogramed). Now that **** isnt retail. My shop pays 20% less than a regular joe. I gotta get the key cut and programed probably another 100 bucks making that 250 dollars!!! (Canadian, right now a buck is a buck 1.03 actually)

Getting close to the finish line!!

Eh, thanks rootbeer. Can't only premium members receive rep? I'm not sure. Its really easy to do if you wanted to do yours. A lot of guys go and buy the "matching color" spray cans and a can of clear coat and do up theirs. Its fun and adds a personal touch. Ppl walk by your car and think they missed out on a trim package. :P or they are like whoa man that **** is sick how much did that cost you?!

Its not too difficult. Start with the peice on the right side of the dash:

Open the glove box, wedge your fingers underneat the trim and just pull firmly but carefully. Its just cliped in, so is everything else.

Do the same thing with the knee bolster but only the top part then you can pull both peices around the steering wheel.

The peice around the stereo comes off last. same thing just pull firmly but gently so you dont bust anything.

For the peices in the doors if you look into the hole for your hand you will see a cap. Take it off theres 2 screws pull em out then wiggle the trim off starting at the end you took the screws out of.

For the shift knob and around the shift boot:

The silver part of the knob pops off if you just get your nails underneat it and pull up a little. the shift partern is doublesided taped on so that also pops off.

For the ring around the boot pull the trim up around the Ebrake first just like the dash peices then pull the trim with the boot. Look up the "how to" for changing shift knobs theres good picks on how to take off the leather part of the knob so you can pull the trim out of the car.

Poping all the trims took me about 15 mins including poping all the switches out. If you have never done anything like it before it might take you an hour or so. Just take it easy and you wont break anything.

Yea thats the main reason i did mine. GM sure cheaped out in some places and thats one of them. A simple coat of clear woulda made them much more durable. What color is your interior? I think it would look pretty sick with a black car to do the trim up with a big flake silver with a high gloss clear. I saw your dual side exhaust post. I like it. ;-) Those tips are perfect.
