Do the same thing with the knee bolster but only the top part then you can pull both peices around the steering wheel.
The peice around the stereo comes off last. same thing just pull firmly but gently so you dont bust anything.
For the peices in the doors if you look into the hole for your hand you will see a cap. Take it off theres 2 screws pull em out then wiggle the trim off starting at the end you took the screws out of.
For the shift knob and around the shift boot:
The silver part of the knob pops off if you just get your nails underneat it and pull up a little. the shift partern is doublesided taped on so that also pops off.
For the ring around the boot pull the trim up around the Ebrake first just like the dash peices then pull the trim with the boot. Look up the "how to" for changing shift knobs theres good picks on how to take off the leather part of the knob so you can pull the trim out of the car.
Poping all the trims took me about 15 mins including poping all the switches out. If you have never done anything like it before it might take you an hour or so. Just take it easy and you wont break anything.
Yea thats the main reason i did mine. GM sure cheaped out in some places and thats one of them. A simple coat of clear woulda made them much more durable. What color is your interior? I think it would look pretty sick with a black car to do the trim up with a big flake silver with a high gloss clear. I saw your dual side exhaust post. I like it. ;-) Those tips are perfect.
Thanks for the info, I think if I painted my trim sport red tintcoat to match my paint, it would look bitchin' against the black interior.

I like it a lot i've been thinking about doing this also. It looks really cool but how does it affect visibility? still the same or worse? I guess just getting brighter bulbs probably would correct that? Some cars are now finally comming like that stock. I guess the dealers are seeing that tuners where right all along. I like that way better than getting aftermarket headlights. You can always pull your trims back off an do them again. Its nothing that can't be sanded off. Thanks for the rep! ;-) back at cha

Yea man totally. ;-) just make sure you use a high gloss clear. I dont have much experience with areosol clears but probably something made by proform wouldnt be bad. put several coats on in case you need to wet sand some dirt nibs out.

It shouldn't affect your visibility or the lights performance at all if you paint the surounding plastic. So its that easy, huh? Well, I think it looks really good, but I'm too scared that i'd screw it up to do it now, maybe soon though lol.

Wow. that is going to be an awesome car for a cheap price. Although the car looks like a base LS how many miles does it have?

Good luck on inspection.

Man you never know how its gonna turn out until you try. If you take all the precautions possible to keep the dust off it should turn out like a million bucks. You can always do a practice run on a peice of plastic or something.

ok you caught me its an LS. I gotta admit i had no idea there was SS/SC out there until after i bought the car. It has 28000 KM. Dunno how much that is in miles maybe 18000 not sure. Its low milage here anyways. Most ppl commute 20-25k a year here.

No affect on visibility, as long as you leave the bowl shape around the lens chrome you have nothing to worry about. I say go for it

Hey thank you very much! ;-)

So i got all the paper work. It passed the inspection and wheel alignment like a breeze. So i'm pretty stoked. I still need to finish cleaning it up but i will put insurance on it tomorrow anyways. ;-) I'll be posting some final pics soon. ;-) I found out at the dealer theres an outstanding recall. I need to find out what its about tomorrow when i go pick up the car. I hope GM will cover it. They also didnt seem to know wtf i was talking about when i said i wanted my pcm reflashed and updated. I talked to another mechanic and he recomended another stealership instead. So thats where its at. ;-) i'll post some pics later in the week!
