06cobalt ss sc first run highway

Had to go to Kansas city MO for school for 3 days. And took my new SS SC Its been sitting in the garage since i bought it . 634 mile from ohio to there i got 29.2MPG.And on the return trip i got 31.7. Used Shell and sunoco 93 oct and the sunoco was the 94. all the highway speeds was 60 plus. 80% around 75 to 80.I was really impressed with the car all around.Fun to drive handeling, stopping, road noise and the kick in the pants pick up this car has in city and highway driveing rocks.Thats the first 1200 plus miles on the car .
Now if i can say the same 30.000 from now!

Ps. Was trying to try the run with just sunoco all the way to KC then Shell all the way back to see if there was any really difference in gas mileage in brands but ran out of sunoco stations in Ind. I know my 93 trans am runs best and best mileage on the sunoco 94 stock lt1.

I did a milage check with my SS/SC just after the 500 mi breakin. I had to do a round-trip check because I was travelling up to the mountains on the way up and down to the valley on the return trip. My round trip milage was 29.2 and I was averaging 75mph. I also was impressed. My city milage improved 8 to 10% after 5k miles, once things loosened up a bit. Good luck with your new ride...

When I insisted on an SS/SC, my wife said: " bet the gas mileage is going to be really bad" compared to the LT. I said: " No dear, it's within a few MPG of the LT."

Made the milage run with her to show her it WAS possible. Of course, I don't normally drive for maximun MPG. What fun would that be?

Lets Say you Paid 25,000 for the car and it will last 5 Years.

You are paying $14.00 per day just to OWN the car, What the **** is the diference of $0.30 of gas economy going to make..

Ok, Not hating here, just wanted to ilustrate how petty Fuel Economy really is...

It gets even worse if you increase the cost of the car to ENZO levels...

ENZO @ 10 Years = $411.00 Per Day just to OWN.. $12,000 Per Month just to have it sit in the driveway...

I agree with Brian 100%.

It is just like paying 4 bucks a day for cigarettes, just buy a box. Same difference.

I agree. It's like the people who drive across town to save 2 pennies a gallon. You just wasted that money by driving across town!!!!!

Yep, or like the people that buy the SS/SC and then ask if they can put 87 octane in it to save some money at the pumps....WTF????

I really don't care what fuel is at. When all the prices went up it didnt bug me, your going to buy it anyways. And since Im already running 91+ (more expensive) I have come to terms with paying alot for gas.

i drive a nice truck that takes EATS around 8 mpg. paying 20cents more a gallon for 91 octane and getting even 25mpg is cheaper for me. who really cares about getting an extra mile per gallon to make it near 30. and like everyone says if gas goes so high you'll still buy it. what are you going to do walk, **** we americans are lazy ya right...like we'd walk to work.

haha. well.. im not the person who is concerned about gas mileage. i rip up the tires and floor it just about everywhere i go.

i understand the point you are trying to make.

... im considering that my last car was a '99 trailblazer with quite a few mods. i got 12-15mpg. when you are on a budget, saving money on gas helps.

not to say i do not agree, but there are certainly a great amount of savings. for example, driving conservatively with a cobalt ss/sc (grow some ***** if you are doing this) would save save TWICE as much as my blazer. that is worth it to some people.

i wont even endevour with my starbucks addiction... but that is beside the point :P
