I bought this car on June 4th, 2007, with a build date of 11/06.
It's been a great car over the years - relatively reliable, extremely fun to drive, and economical to maintain and operate.
She's developed a few paint chips, dents, and scrapes over the years, but the car still runs like a top and doesn't use any oil between changes. The clutch is the GMPP upgraded unit and still grabs great.
I had it modded with a 3" pulley at one point, and full exhaust. Best time down the 1/4 mile strip was 13.9 @ 105 MPH.
Now it's just GM Stage 2 with my own tune, and stock exhaust.
First week I had the car - probably 200 miles on it in this photo.
Last summer after a full detail. Probably ~ 140,000 miles.
What it looks like today.
What an LSJ with 147,000 miles looks like.
Annual oil sprays - the black plugs are so the oil can be injected into the rockers, doors, etc.
Awesome to see folks that take care of their ****. She looks every bit as good as she did 12 years ago!
Mine turned 9 in February but hasn't been a daily since 2013.
Nice! I bought mine in July 2005 - Birthday coming next month and has 152k miles on the clock. Developed the 2nd gear grind at about 150k, getting a new transmission this week.

Nice! Love hearing about long term ownership like this.
Regarding the trans - have you checked the fluid? Mine has always had a slow leak from the axle seal - I just top it off when I do the oil.
Beautiful car, looks very nice! At around the same mileage, my 05 has some serious clear coat peel on most of the panels. Wish mine was in similar condition.

Yes, I checked the fluid and all is good. From a dead stop, it can go in to 2nd with no problem. After going through the gears and slowing down for a turn, I can shift to 2nd with no grind. It only grinds on the 1-2 shift or a 3-2 downshift. I already ordered a brand new F35 from Jason (B3 Designs) and should have it next week some time

Thanks. I saw an SS at a used car lot that had a lot of clear coat peel on the drivers side. Not sure if it was an 05 or not.

Yeah, sounds like a syncro issue now that you mention it. You going to do the clutch while you have it apart? Might as well, and it's cheap enough.

Oh yes, clutch kit. (GM clutch), LNF TOB, Fidanza Friction plate & revised shifter bracket. Thinking about getting the ZZP stage 1 axles too while I'm at it.

I have those axles in my car. They're way beefier than stock and were either the same price or cheaper than OEM. Go for it.

Always found it funny how they put the SS S/C badges halfway up the door in 05, then 06+ they moved them to the bottom. Probably to make room for the GM badges.

Thanks! Yeah I always wondered why the badge placement changed. But yeah makes sense, to make room for the little GM badge
So I've been thinking about selling this and getting something else, but I don't think it's worth much money.
1. Carfax isn't clean. If you search on here you can find out why. Dealership in Albany had a tech who crashed it into a pole in a snowstorm, then fucked me over on the repair. Claimed it would be fixed in house (which it was) and that it wouldn't affect the carfax (it did.) They did a good job but I still had to go through my insurance to repair the rest of the car that they fucked up. This was in like 08 or 09.
2. Has some rust - I've touched up a few spots. It kept the rust from growing but it's obvious where the paint was sanded/primed etc. I've been oil spraying it every year so it's still in way better shape than any other Cobalt I've seen around here. Paint is in great shape, I always used Griot's sealant since the car was new and always polished out any swirl marks. The front bumper is cracked (one of my winter driving fails) and it has a few dings and scratches here and there. Overall though it still looks great and still gets compliments.
3. Mechanically this is in excellent condition. I wouldn't hesitate to drive it to CA right now. It needs an EVAP valve that I'm going to fix to pass inspection. New tires, brakes, etc. It DOES have the usual Cobalt front end clunk, which is either the steering rack or the power steering motor/column gear lash. Again, I don't have time to fart around with it or pay a dealer $ to fix, since they'll likely charge a fortune to replace a $ 200 part.
4. A/C doesn't work and I don't know why (or care to investigate any further.)
What's it realistically worth on here, like 3k? I think it has 148,000 miles. It's been GM Stage 2 since new, and I did the GM clutch upgrade at like 80k. I have full maintenance records dating back to the first oil change at 2,000 miles in 2007. It's fun to drive but I'm busy as hell with work and everything and I don't have time to screw around with it like I used to.
I bought my 05 new in June. I believe. But it may have been July. It was a few weeks after I finished college and got a real job. I don't really have any recent pictures of it. I blame the Porsche. This one was taken in March if 2018.
