i wonder what rpm he launched at. ive heard that launching that motor at a lower rpm is better to control its wheelspin...i heard around 3 grand was the good point. that guy that got the 14.5 on the fully stock car said that if i remember correctly. barry has the intake mod and dual exhuast right?

The lower you can launch your car and still achieve wheelspin without wheel hop is always the best. I used to launch my Alero at 2900-3500 depending on the weather and track conditions.

That is awesome news on the times! Those are the two mods I plan to do very quickly after I get my car.

That is good news! Well if mods like that push it that much, then we can be seeing better numbers from even more drastic mods.

Wow those numbers are unbelievable!!

I have heard of a couple guys running low 14's, but 13.9 is awesome, plus he trapped at 101 which is even better - and thats only with an intake and dual exhaust!?!?

Those numbers are in SRT-4 territory, something the diehard SRT-4 fans said was never possible Hopefully GM will release the Stage Upgrade kits, then we will really be able to give the SRT-4's a run for their money, even if they are modded as well

Those numbers are really impressive out of the RL! First, I though a great majority of such a great time was the driver, but a 2.2 60' isn't anything amazing...which means these times might be easily replicated.

Very excited about this, the LSD on the Cobalt SS should make up for a few tenths...and once aftermarket and most especially GM performance parts gets on this...wow.

yup thats exactly my point he was able to achieve 13's with a 2.2 60' and thats with out the lsd so you figure lsd will give it 2.0 60' with some practice and your looking at consitant all day 13's

LOL, yeah, hell, I could consistantly get 2.1 60' in my alero and I was only running 15.2-15.5's. The heavily modified GTP's in my club that run 13.2-13.7's are always in the 1.8-1.9 60'. I can't wait to get this car to the track.

i didn't dyno with Barry's intake mod, but with the airbox removed and K&N drop in replacement, gained ~9-10 hp from that alone

and the DSM guy that ran the RL for a 14.5 was launching at under 3grand, i beleive he said around 1500rpms.

and i don't know where you find that we bicker over there, it's actually one of the better forums i've been to with respect to actual discussion of the car

ok, i see now, that was a load of crap. now the headers have been shipped so he'll be salty now...

i like the atmosphere there though, the site owner keeps it all in our hands to keep people in check, doesn't have any rules except to show respect, and it seems to work out nicely!

What is the Intake mod? Is it something other then just throwing on like a cone and new intake pipe?

I was assuming it was something like the mod they had on the SRT's when they came out their "ram air" mod, just having air coming in straight-away. When any company says they have a "functional" ram air hood, people want to have air actuallu GOING into the engine, not just flowing atop and keeping it cool Thats my assumption, can anyone clear it up?

Wow...seems like this engine setup has a lot of bottled up power. Very impressed so far.

One more question...if people were dynoing 211whp with just the K&N, what was the torque?

Actually the LSD will most likely not affect 1/4 times at all, since there isn't any excessive drive imbalance.

Nice. Is the Exhaust a cat-back system or ???

And the only thing needed to go from a 2.2 60' to a 2.0 60' is a bit more seat time and/or better track prep. I managed 2.0 60's on my stock tires (which are narrower) without a LSD. With a 2.0 60' time, that's a 13.7.

Can't wait to start seeing these at my local track.

actually I've noticed with my GP is 1/10th in the 60' is 2/10ths at the other end of the 1/4... that would be in 13.5 range
