dumb question. but does anyone know if there is a govenor or anything on the 2.2's? or has anyone toppped out a 2.2 yet?

i have hit at least 130 in my 2.2 my governor is out of mine

 

i got the sport 2.2, govs at 110

 

it is rated to your stock tires. mine is at 124. But i would never ever suggest you go this fast in a 2.2 unless you have it PERFECTLY balanced.

 

how did u take out the govenor?

 

I got mine up to 116 and my speedo goes up to 120, and that was conpletly stock. Now that i did a few mods i have to try it again.

 

116 without taking out the governor???

 

130 without taking off the governor, never did anything like that..my only guess is when they put a new MAF sensor in and were tuning it they forgot to put the governer code or whatever back on, ofcourse i have higher speed rated tires and don't suggest it on a highway, stock tires, or stock springs lol

lol. well right now i got conti's lol. and springs are coming next. new tires will come for summer. and if i go to the track this weekend i really dnt care about speed rating. lol its a straight 1/4 mile. maybe ill borrow my friends tires from his wrecked GLI. lol

 

unless you can do it in the 1/4 mile there is no reason to go faster then 100mph. especially in your LS with tires not rated for that speed on a public road.

 

lol i know. but i mean after i get rid of em. but does anyone know how to take out the governor?

 

one way is with tuning, which isnt available... p.s you should really learn to search, this has been cover in 3-4 other threads

 

yea i shood learn to search. i tried it b4 i posted this. maybe i shood read the how-to on searching. lol. and spelling governor right might help a bit too. but to the guy who said he took his out, how did u do it if we dnt have tuning?

 

I hit 118 in my cobalt and hit the rev limiter and the governor at the same time.... not good... I have the normal ls that has the 120 speedo...

 

in 5th gear at 120 u hit rev limiter?!?!?


i hit 95 in 4th gear b4 around 5k. and i have an ls non sport too.

 

1. I have an auto....
2. my governor is at 118
3. my rev limiter is around 7k

oo. i got a manual, idk where my governor is, and my rev lim is at 6.5 lol


anyone know how to get rid of the rev limiter too???

rev lim is gay. whenever i race, alot of times i wanna run it right to red line or SLIGHTLY into red line, and if i dnt shift in time, there goes the race.


and i think a governor is jus gay.

its not a safety hazard, your tires will do just fine at any legal speed limit in the US.

Whats a safety hazard is

1.) you street racing
2.) going over 100MPH on public roads
3.) going over 100pmh on tires that are rated for those speeds
4.) not have the proper brakes & suspension to safely travel that speed
5.) YOU NOT BEING SMART ENOUGH TO REALIZE THE 4 POINT ABOVE!
