2007 cobalt 2.2l. cylinder head. question

Hey i have a couple questions.... i need to replace the cylinder head since i have a crack in mine which is pissing oil..... is it a bad idea to buy a used one on ebay ? The thi g is i dont want to be replacing the valves and everytbing.. i juat want one i can drop in... I need your input.. also... Do i need to mess with timing ? All together is this a easy job? r ? If aomeone has a step by step on how to do it i would appreciate it... i am mechanically inclined btw.. Ive always done fords and stuff.. Im actually doing this for a friend. Thanks.

Well to remove the head you need to remove the timing, If its in good condition I dont see why not but you should still check the head with straight edge and a filler gauge to make sure the head isnt warped if it is and depending how much then you could either send it in to machine shop or it doesn work and you will need to return it so I guess make sure it has some time of warranty. And as an easy job if you have some experience it shouldnt be to bad to do maybe the most complicated thing would be get the timing back correctly. and make sure you torque everything back to specs.

Hey. Thanks for the reply.... So how hard is it to do the timing? And what has to get removed for that ? Im used to v8 mustangs and stuff. The old school cars i used to work on. .:-)

Any cylinder head you buy is not going to come with a complete valve train installed. Unless, your willing to pay quite a bit of money at least from my experience. As far as using everything from the previous head its probably not your best interest; especially, if it is a turbo or supercharged SS.

Just my 2 cents.
