2007 Summer Event

Alright, so eventhough the summer is not too close I have begun planning an event to take place for GM products (specifically newer modeled GM vehicles, Cobalt, G5, G6, etc) and for those who are proud of them to showcase them or come and see a great gathering of vehciles. I have spoken with a local dealer and other sponsors who are interested in taking part in some type of event. Here is what has been planned out so far.

The location is going to be about 20 Minutes North of the American Border(Ogdensburg crossing) held just south of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. It is going to be on a saturday in late july or early august (that is still open for debate). What is going to happen is...were trying to get the largest gathering of the cobalt and g5 community (outside of GM small car bash of course, which was cancelled last year anyway). There is going to be judged competition within 4 categories (audio visual, interior, exterior, performance), small fee would apply to anyone interested in taking part and there will be trophies for the winner of each.

I am really trying to get Americans to come across the border as well....there is a significant amount of Ontario SS.net members however were trying to make this a large scale event for specifically the GM line (no offense to those who dont drive em but this is cobaltss.net). There will be affordable accomadations available as well and it would be a good trip to convoy up to Canada (where everything is cheaper). I dont want this to sound cheasy but we've looked into an event name and have thought of SS.net 07 so far...kinda catchy and simple. event is not limited to ss.net members but it would be great to have a solid contingent of you....It would be an ideal weekend trip...

Let me know what you think...anyone interested is encouraged to contact me, also looking for anyone who wants to advertize or support as well...

I may be driving back east this summer to visit my family. Its 2400 miles away, but if you get a set date quickly, i may be able to plan around it and take a cruise up there. I'd compete in the performance competition.

Its for Americans too; they will need passports to re-enter the country.

I was under the impression it started in January for all travel across the border, but the article in yesterday's Chicago Tribune says it won't go into effect for ground transportation for another year (cars, Amtrak, busses, etc). However, just to be on the safe side it would be good to get one.

Well..with the American Passport issue...we are being told in Canada that if you want to get into the States you need one by January 23rd, the passport offices have had mad lineups for a while now so im under the impression its going into affect relatively quickly....Either way...get up here and show case your prized possesion
