2008 Cobalt
So i read this on gminsidenews....
Chevrolet Cobalt: For 2008, the Cobalt will be refreshed. Hopefully the refresh will be enough to get the Cobalt up with the competition
What do you think they mean? lets speculate.....

well projector headlights are on all the nicer models of the sport compacts, a traction control on/off swicth for the automatics, more durable rims, better interior

The SS/SC ias allready above the competition in most aspects or at least when it comes to styling, performance and pricing.
I think they are really talking about the other Cobalt models. I wanted to get another one for my girlfriend but after having a SS the other models look way to blah.
I think GM's biggest problem with the current Cobalt is over zealous dealerships maxing the MSRP on base models. The stupid dealers take a base model with a $13-14,000 MSRP and then add each option individually than throw on a sport package and end up with a $19,800 base model Cobalt.

1) We look better.
2) We go faster.
3) We have more power.
This cars competition is the Mini Cooper S (168HP), Honda Civic Si (197HP), Ford Focus ST (160HP), Acura RSX Type-s (210HP), and the Hyundai Tiburon (170HP) among a few others. We already offer better performance in both acceleration and handling, not to mention being competitive in fit and finish. Only place we loose in is maybe interior material quality due to the consistant use of (nice) plastic and the crappy leather on the base model seats.
The new SRT-4 Caliber is going to be $6-7,000 more than the base price of the SS/SC, so it is not competition. There is a new Mini Cooper next year. "S" models are getting a new 1.6L Turbo engine from reports, so I would expect around (190-200 HP). So that car will up it's competitiveness. Otherwise, I think that we are incredibly competitive in our segment. Unfortunately, the biggest thing holding back potential buyers is probably the fact that the car has bowties on it's front rear.
2008 will be a modest restyle at most likely, possibly some mechanical changes too.

id like to see some work done on the tranny gear ratios, making a taller 1st gear for increased traction, then a much shorter 2nd gear followed by tight 3rd 4th 5th to haul ass and a 6th gear overdrive
